Reviews & Discussion:

Haak - Bass Shuttle / Pulling Strings Apr 21, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
Fantastic debut. For me, Bass Shuttle is the obvious A-side. As soon as the moody, pulsing bassline fades up during the intro, you can hear that this is going to be a monster. The dark yet melodic atmosphere that Haak creates with the remaining layers is important here - and the recombination of everything after the breakdown is something that will definitely have your feet tapping, be you trance or techno minded.
Sander van Doorn - A.K.A. Apr 21, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
For me, the stronger of these two mixes is easily the Sam mix. Gritty, rasping synths and smooth spaced out pads combine with a monstrously deep and dark bassline in a frenzy of tech trance thrashing. The duality of the breakdown - a gentle yet dark chord progression that leads into metallic sawtooth riffs - sums up the entire tune.
Sasha - Unreleased DJ Mixes Part 1 Aug 14, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
A fantastic pair of remixes. Sander Kleinenberg takes an already polished tune and draws it out into a nice long chilled version which mixes really comfortably, and the stabbing synth that replaces the guitar fits the tune perfectly. And then, on the flip, where you would usually expect a lesser tune, is a beautifully dark and moody remix of Lupus - not that you would expect much else when Jimmy Van M and Cass & Slide are working together.
Saints & Sinners - Peace Apr 24, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This for me, is an absolutely storming release. I haven't heard the original so I couldn't say how it compares to that, but BOTH mixes on this are superb. The Oliver Lieb mix is just begging to be played whenever I break out any progressive trance as a nice way of easing it back to around to mainstream stuff, the beat is just so rhythmic... and the ambient Michael Woods mix is so chilled you could fall asleep to it.
Ascension - Someone Jul 22, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
Having had great success as Lustral with Everytime, I figured this tune would be a good buy. I wasn't wrong when I heard, the better mix of these two easily being the Thrillseekers mix. It is classic 00's Trance in every respect, airy female vocals that don't really make sense, moog bass and well used chord structures. But, it's done really really well, and that makes it 5/5.
Lange Feat. Skye (2) - Drifting Away Jul 22, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
I think this is a fantastic tune. Usually I'm not a fan of Lange's production work and I think his strength remains in remixes, but this has to stand out as one of his best. The Original Mix has a very Lange feel to it, the usual moog basses and envelope-cut sawtooth synths, but the better mix for me is the Sunset Dub, this takes a relaxed feel that would make a nice outro in a mix.
Sasha : Emerson* - Scorchio Jul 20, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
This is definitely one of my favourite tunes in the box. The stronger mix of the two for me is the Full Length Version, it starts off with a drum loop that continues into a small breakdown that introduces more and more elements of the tune. The flip-side has the remix by Darren Emerson (AKA 1/2 of Underworld) which introduces more dark synth sounds and breaky drums, but still complements nicely.
System F - Out Of The Blue Jul 20, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
When this tune was released back in 1999, it was easily one of Ferry's best solo projects. It is so simple that you could make it with almost any synthesizer and a few effects modules, but the riffs and pounding drum beats are put together so well that you would never know it. After this the remixes just kept coming and you can see why - an absolutely storming tune that still fits into a set now.
Gouryella - Walhalla Jul 19, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
If all four of gouryella's productions were played together, this tune is probably the one that would stand out as the one least like the others. Whereas Tenshi and Gouryella have melodic, almost classical riffs and hard drum beats, the original mix of Walhalla takes a softer feel - something exaggarated in the breakdown with a very sleepy organ playing out the main riff. Armin's Rising Star Mix emphasises this point and goes even further, making the whole tune softer and more relaxed. All in all, a fine production.
Starparty - I'm In Love Jul 19, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
Another great collaboration from Ferry, this time with the legendary Robert Smit (AKA The Generator). The original has all the elements of a Ferry tune (classical sounding main line, sawtooth style lead and bass), and I think even the En-Motion remix lends itself to his style, but introducing key elements of a 'hands in the air' euphoria style. Makes a good combination.
