Trancefixtion* - The Different Vibes E.P. Vol 1 - 17-May-08 09:59 AM
It's crazy this one is still in circulation - a very catchy tune, it will get you moving. Goa-stuff before the formula became too tight.

It goes up and a bit down and then further up again. A lot of times. Very nice feeling to it and far away from the full-on fury

It never became a very big thing, I just ran into it by chance, but then labels come and go faster than anything. Just the fact that the record is still out there tells it all

Various - Yellow Compilation - 22-Mar-08 12:34 PM
This one started it all, if you want to talk about goa-trance. There were others before, but they didn't work like this on the dancefloor. Kung-fu types talk about ki, the unclear becoming clear, and the tracks here make it clear, that now is the time to move your feet and leave your mind for a while.

The sample "if I could discover just one of these secrets..." not only makes me dance and scream, it also is a really funky poem about freedom of the mind, but luckily that doesn't make the music stop to wonder.

To me, it's only charming that all the tracks aren't perfectly suited for everything. Getting too close to the formula is getting boring.

Try it.

Goa Experience - Vol. 2 - 14-Mar-08 02:36 PM
To me, this is all the beautiful things Goa-trance could have been. The stars really do chime on this record, and theres even a little sadness somewhere in there. I find that to be a huge relief and very beautiful.

I don't know many other records that does what this one do, but its perfect on a dancefloor and soothing for the mind. Just like the stars really are in Goa.

Even though the record is rather old now, theres not much alike it. It seems that trance just doesn't feel too comfortable close to anything else than a very broad smile.

Eternal Basement - Nerv - 14-Mar-08 04:39 AM
Listening to Woy is a endless experience of joy and wonder. There are layers that come and disappear, no matter how many times you think that you finally found a path all the way through

Of course, being a Harthouse release, there's also a lot of tracks sounding as they were supposed to in the 90's - trying to follow up on how it sounds when machines party wild, and worth listening to once in a while.

But the gem on this record is Woy. I get lost in the quiet way it contains one of the most moving beats I know. Just lovely

Dead Can Dance - Toward The Within - 14-Dec-07 12:45 PM
Surprisingly enough Dead Can Dance is best on stage. The tracks from Wake and Labyrinth work way better here, and my second hand dealer are gonna get those two one of these days.
Here is a nerv and presence that makes all the different ethnic soundscapes work together and point back to a common origin. Its very beautiful and quite fantastic.
The vocals and pace through the album makes me think om some initiation at midsummer, but I can't decide where in the world that would be. So I also point towards the within!
