Linkwood Family - Miles Away - 18-Oct-09 09:38 AM
Wow this one is a classic, for detroit, deep and headz girlz & boyz alike. It merges several styles in a melancolic shape astonishelly well produced. It will be enjoyed both at hone and some very late and very deep dancefloors. Even if Miles away is a classic, my favorite track is B1 which can fit in almost every set... Moreover, the thing is wrapped in a fantastic packaging and pressed on heavy 10" which will stands for ages. A must have Thank you scottishes
DJ Pharoah - Funky Saturday Volume 1 - 27-Mar-09 09:51 AM
Superb mix of funk / boogie and breaks vibez with a huge reedit of 3 tracks sampling or covering Mighty Ryederss classic Evil vibration, including the original, in the middle of the mix. I specially enjoy the part from track 3 to 10, with great moments and huge dancefloor tracks from Asphalt Jungle, Hollywood Disco jazz Band and Ray Munnings, perfectly mixed all together. Also. a very nice progression: even if the second part, with a more funky breakbeat attitude is less original, the timing is still perfect. Get a copy!
Debbie Taylor - Comin' Down On You - 19-Feb-09 01:34 PM
I just get a beautifull sealed copy of that and Im so impressed: this album is true soul masterpiece: the burning voice of Debbie Taylor is wrapped in genuine Patrick Adams arrangements. Some of you will recognize 2 classics cuts from the northern/modern soul (no ifs, ands... & No deposit No return) and compiled several times, but the whole package is a must have. No mellow soul here: its raw, tight, spiritual intense and unforgettable: footnotes are the best resumee of this wonderfull album. Get it!
Forss - Soulhack - 29-Jun-08 04:19 AM
The second plate is one of the most interesting cut & paste work of the decade; "Soulhack" is a kind of soulfull slice of beat science, so raw, so true, that you can spin it in a hip hop set for advanced b-boys as well as in a open-minded soul or d set; Flickermood is also a high octane set of mentally disturbed jazz breakes. This one will please Amon Tobins fanbase as well as all free-style djs...
Jeffree* - Jeffree - 22-Jun-08 03:50 AM
A superb chicago modern soul albm of a truely forgetten artist. Highlights all through: Mr Fix It is a pure mellow mid tempo groover; I cant Help It Baby: Keyboards crazyness for late night Dancers; One last chance: Soul stomper in a Marvin Gaye vein; Loves gonna last: THE Ultimate classic for the Chi-town Steppers. Wonderfull voice & Cleaver production, brilliant musicianship, this is a must have for all who are in the rare groove scene; I am not sure if Jeffree have released some other tight jobs, but this LP is not so hard to find and you cannot miss it. An album from the heart, for the soul and the feets
