Various - This Is Disco House! - 24-Aug-09 09:17 AM
This compilation should probably have been better unmixed, with a more tightened selection. The tracks 2, 3 and 14 only lasts less than 2 minutes, and their inclusion is far from memorable.
Otherwise, there are a couple of very good tracks, such as Mainline Disco by Gene Farris, and Ebony Chick by Oshun Flow (Richard Marshall). Some of them were rarely pressed on CD.
A good panorama of what happened in House music between Stardust and Daft Punk.

Danny Tenaglia - Elements - 08-Jun-09 07:17 PM
The D-Tour Mix of Elements was probably the most played version when it was released. Dark beats, dark voice, and some little jokes here and there. An edit of it appears on the "Tourism" album.
My favorite version is The Chant Mix, with a lot less vocals, and a vocal riff similar to Hello-Hello-Hello from Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. The emphasis is given to the darkness of the melody.
If you want a full instrumental, The Tracks is just what you need. Bonus beats and voice are yours for mixing pleasure.
Danny Tenaglia later re-used parts of this single for "Dibiza (Bring The Drums Back)", released in 2006.

Sacred Spirit - Sacred Spirit (Dance Remixes) - 03-Jun-09 04:48 PM
The first album of Sacred Spirit was extensively remixed when it was originally released. This album gathers a couple of the most interesting re-versions; some of them were already released on the CD-Singles and 12" vinyl, some others, more obscure, find their place only here.
While the original album was a pleasant one, this restructured edition is as good, if not better. Maybe there is one or two tracks clashing with the others in term of style (the Totem Grid remix of Yeha Noha for example), but the majority of the remixes are very well reproduced.
Tracks 7 and 8 are two very dubby remixes, nearly taken out from the Indian traditional thematic. However, both are good, but more in the Lounge / Ambient field than in the dance category.
Howie Bs remix of Tor-Cheney-Nahana closes the album with an powerful and hypnotic violoncello part, very deep and dark. In memory of the Natives. Peace.

Psykosonik - Welcome To My Mind - 09-May-09 01:40 PM
Welcome To My Mind is a pleasant mix between pop and techno that sounds like Brothers In Rhythm and Pet Shop Boys in their 1990s period. The album version of the song, not included on this single, is a little bit longer if youre looking for a 12" mix of it. The Sonik Bender mix is close to the Radio and album versions but is somehow a re-interpretation.
The other interesting remix is the Clear The Mind Mix that can fit into any Eurodance set.
Count To Zero is a techno track only available on this CD-Single. Nice addition.

Cerrone - Cerrone X-XEX - 14-Apr-09 04:50 PM
I think that once you have listened to a release of Cerrone, you probably listened them all. The themes are recurrent, always the same: naked women, lesbians, love, sex... alleluia.
On X-Xex, Cerrone tells a story where he said he found a personal diary in a cab, written by an unknown woman (I imagine her beautiful writes Cerrone in the liner notes) and that this discovery lead to the creation of this album... wow...
Years after Disco had faded away, the disco man finds himself in a position where he had to adapt his style to the taste of the day. And so, the tracks arranged by De La Funk are Eurodance flavoured (Yes I Like Watching sounds just like Tribal Dance by 2 Unlimited, a very big hit at the same time X-XEX was released); the strings are replaced by synths; some Enigma-esque sounds effects are used to emphasize on the sexy effect. But thats just too much, or not enough...
However, there is one very good track in the bonus section: the Deep Soul remix of Love In C Minor really recaptures the essence of piano House and the Strictly Rhythm feel of the time. But it was edited very badly and sequenced with the other remixes. No luck.
