Aes Dana - Leylines
Jun 16, 2009
Chill out for these increasingly warmer days, made for slow moving and/or dreaming. Like a summer day! Thats not just what I am thinking what this music is made for, it was also an about ten years old track which I listen to continuously since then. This time I first got in contact with Vincent 'Aes Dana' Villuis and I am happy that I don't missed any of the releases he, or Ultimae Records, is involved in. His fourth album is very multifaceted and combines silent moments and untouched downbeat grooves, with an emotional depth which is extraordinary in my ears. Unfolding and rising atmosphere are guiding you through a relaxed journey into your inner self. My personal highlight on this CD is 'Lysistrata' because of its complexity: Extensive intro followed by challenging slow motion beats on a mind blowing arrangement of spacey atmospheric sounds, like a summer day! Awesome how deep his music can go! (liese)
Circular - Substans
Jun 11, 2009
Deep spacey ambient music. Bjarte Andreassen and Jostein Dahl Gjelsvik from Norway are Circular and their sound makes you dive deep into ambient: Chilly sounds and melodies of engrossed elegance create a haunting yet still wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. With each minute passing, the music becomes an even more massive trip inwards, sucking you in for its whole run time of nearly one hour. Ultimae is known for their quality in selecting the finest ambient, psy/chill out music and this time they are taking us on another magic musical journey as only they can. '[ Substans ]' unfolds itself with an imaginative travelling trough the sounds of psychedelic chill out music, is filling you with warm emotions and positive energy and creates a feeling of huge dimensions. For ambient and chill out lovers this is definitely one of the must have releases of the year! (liese)
Kliment - The Perpetual Ritual
Jun 11, 2009
Ambient for natural born chillers. After sevral tracks on Iboga and Sofa Beats, which have only be released digital, here is the debut album of Kliment Dichev. Deep, atmospheric soundscapes, spiced up with some real shpongled sounds. The first track will show you some very emotional places because of the sweet chants of a lady's voice. The CD is a relaxed journey through psychoelastic spaces where you maybe never have been. In this release, Kliment brings to us a extremely peaceful and introspective music, composed by melodic strings and good harmonics to introduce the listener to high trips into the universe inside this release. Good moments of chill and relax are promised. (liese)
Meller - Spacewalk
May 29, 2009
Meller are two german guys, Marco Scherer from Hessen and Dirk Herrmann aka DJ Mel from a small town close to Hamburg. On their third CD are crossing the border between progressive trance and fullon. It’s a progressive head on fullon shoulders – smooth sounds from the prog stable are used to great effect in creating some real dancefloor killers, that keep the spirits positive and never get too dark and menacing. Sometimes they are using samples that I think i am listening to some old SNAP tracks, but always with deep bass lines and pure psychedelic madness all the way. While it’s full-blown “proper” psy, there’s also a nice array of tricks and explorations that sets this above the formulaic 4/4 mulch out there. Everybody who likes real psychedelic and derwish dancing- check it out. (liese)
AirNaN - Making Progress
May 29, 2009
With their second release, the free style trance (FreeAnce) label from Israel, developed an addictive and versatile breed of progressive psychedelic trance. AirNaN is Hernan Arber aka DJ Eclypso and also the label head of FreeAnce and this release is a different to the previous. Voice samples, smooth tunes with a phased progressive melody line and a breezy easygoing feel. A gorgeous vibe, with a good set bass and cute melodies. The sound has everything to become a big hit this summer, with dreamy samples, great melodies and a smooth progression through the tune. A smooth and bouncy trance release that is danceable beyond belief, with perfect build-ups and nicely balanced kicks all the way. (liese)
Flame On Fire - Mission Emotion
Mar 02, 2009
Tasos Dimomeletis aka Flame on Fire chucks a couple of progressive big bombs onto the dance floor and where they land the grass ain't ever gonna grow again. The first time I recognized the Artist was in 2006 on our Compilation "Trancer's Guide to the Galaxy - Vol. II" where he did a remix of D-Nox & Beckers "One Shot", which is also on this release.
A sophisticated and clever work on kick, bass, percussion and voices makes it possible for the listener and DJ, to listen to the tracks without something that bothers. The tracks are well constructed, wonderfully arranged, and perfectly produced. Slower speeds that make it particularly easy to DJ with, warm tribal grooves, sometimes pounding, sometimes more pushy. Monotonous hypnotic hooks that morph into atmospheric TechHouse variations. Let‘s see what will happen with Tasos now.
Eclypso* - West
Feb 11, 2009
Down in south of Germany a friend of mine decided to play under the name Psychedelic Cowboy and what i have here could be the soundtracks of his life.
FreeAnce is a new label from Israel coming up with their first release. Funny pumping full-on with lots of nice ideas. FreeAnce is the abbreviation for free style trance and that's what i have here in my player. It starts with Mr. Peculiar's homage to Ennio Morricone "Per qualche dollaro in più" and immediately you are into a funky "Hilly Billy" trance mode. Soon you feel like riding through a western scenery just that the bass line is much deeper and more demanding than we know it from the western. If you like melodramatic full-on you should definitely give a listen to this compilation. 9 tracks with an average speed between 143 and 146 bpm will bring you plenty of fun. Two of the tracks are a bit slower with a more progressive attitude but in the end they also fit perfectly into the concept of the release.
Lava 303 - Wunderbare Elektrofrau
Jan 21, 2009
After a break of more than four years, Constanze (Conni) Maly aka Lava 303 returns to bring the acid back into our lifes and to be honest, i missed her already.
This release has, as every of her releases, a mission far beyond just psychedelic trance. Her style is more than unique and she is far beyond all comparison. If you know her, you know about the guitar sounds, the pumping beats from the good old 303 and her way, to bring also some political statements into the sound, gladly not only in German language. But this album is a bit different than the previous releases, sure you find all what you expect but something new happens in the world of Lava 303. Additional to her definition of acid rock'n'roll, there is a new aspect in her music, something what is a bit softer than in the past. Some of the tracks are a fusion of her style and contemporary electronic stuff which I would call 303Raumwohnung as it sounds for me sometimes like a popular band from Berlin. Great release if you like to look over the rim of a tea cup.
Atmos - Tour De Trance
Jan 20, 2009
Tomasz Balicki aka Atmos is back with his unique definition of progressive trance. Groovy, clubby and with luscious kicks the sound is infecting from the beginning. From the first minute you will be carried by the sound and your feet will begin to move.
Lovely, light-hearted, melodic trance for Sunday mornings. With flawless technique, Atmos combines his unequaled style with classic house elements and creates a solid groove to please the masses. There have been numerous speculations about the new Atmos album and it has been delayed for what seems like an eternity. Finally it can be announced that Tomasz Balicki is back where he once started.
Electric Universe - Sonic Ecstasy
Jan 14, 2009
Finally I got it - one of the first releases which is delivered on CD and on compact stick also. So now it seems to be real, that the future of music is digital.
Boris Blenn aka Electric Universe is back with his tenth album, from the beginning he was one of my most liked acts and he hit me again. I love the way he interprets the psychedelic trance. I think his music was always constant and he didn't follow any trend just to sell more copies. The sound is close to the border of FullOn, sometimes crossing, but as he uses a lot of soft synths and melodies I would not put him just in this genre. There is always a snatch of sunshine in what he is doing. Ten excellent tracks around 145 bpm (two are a bit faster) are kicking your ass, just the lovers of "Meteor" will maybe think that there are not enough guitars on this album. On the stick you find all the tracks also in wav files and lot of other stuff. Graphics, movies, mixes and wallpaper are giving you the chance to have a visual entertainment also included. Via an html page, on which you find the menu, you will be guided through the digital world of Electric Universe. This stick is a nice multimedia tool but for the music I still favour the CD. Thank you Boris! | ||||
