Supermayer - Save The World - 28-Jun-08 11:34 AM
I dont understand why people hate this album so much? im reading reviews on discogs and even Pitchfork has given it a... 3/10 rating I think?
This whole album is really really different stuff than earlier tracks by either Superpitcher or Michael Mayer, but this album has a nice funky crisp sound to it. Funky 4/4 drumloops which can make this album comparable to bands like Hot Chip, maybe some LCD Soundsystem, and who knows what else? I do really like what they are doing and how they are approaching their sound. This album even has the Superpitcher / Michael Mayer techno roots too which gives this album a nice variety.
I dont know how people dont like this? But I guess for Kompakt and this being a Super/Mayer project, it totally gives off a pop music feeling vibe for some tracks. But hey, I mean, hasnt Kompakt released stuff like this before?
Venetian Snares vs. Bong-Ra - 4 Adaptations Of Rossz Csillag Alatt Született - 23-Aug-06 01:47 AM
The thing I love about this record is that its not Bong Ra doing his breakcore thing, but its Bong Ra doing something different. This release reminds me of Amon Tobin. I think thats pretty cool.
Also its nice to see Planet Mu releasing something that isnt dnb, breakcore or dubstep, since Planet Mu seems to be more focussed on that type of thing now.
MFA, The - The Difference It Makes - 22-Feb-04 12:24 PM
James Holdens label Border Community keeps building up its style with dance music with a different genre. After the two successful singles of Holdens "A Break In The Clouds", and Nathan Fakes "Outhouse", the label grows. On its third release, The MFAs "The Difference It Makes" becomes a wild denying track. The original is what we like to call maybe a french house track meets progressive house, and maybe with deep elements, the 2nd track is a remix of MFAs original, but MFA remade it as a DnB track, it makes it sound nice. The last track is my favourite, Petters remix. If you love acid house and mellowdic progressive youll love this one. Overall, the package is great.
