Yellow6 vs. Boreal* - Vert : Résultat - 04-Mar-08 02:07 PM
All four of these tracks offer interesting compositions. Those familiar with recent yellow6 material will be content with his meandering guitar and effects. Ive never heard Boreal before. Track 3 and 4 came and went without me consciously acknowledging a change of artist as they both are very similar.

What lets this release down a bit is the muddied, dull production. I think the mastering needs improving. Such is the way with small cottage industries.

I would recommend a copy if you can find one.

Bachel - Cat Say Dog Say - 20-Jan-08 04:17 PM
If Syd Barret was going to start Pink Floyd today, then this is the 21st Century version of Interstellar Overdrive or Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun. Starting slightly abstract it quickly winds and twists into a flowing mantle of layered waves of electronics tainted with a hint of the early Floyd psychedelia without the organic instruments. Its so well done, just the kind of muzak that Ive always wanted to compose myself. Thats one of three tracks. The remaining two will satisfy those who like more recent Boards of Canada. A grand release indeed with arty packaging.

Pub - Rainclown - 08-Sep-07 05:55 PM
After the last couple of releases it seemed that Pub had gone all anti-social rushing off down the old muzak concrete path that meant you couldnt bring anyone home and expect them to stay until the morning after a Pub session.

Luckily and thankfully, the masterful Pub production hands us this slab of IDM that is sure to become a favorite for 2007. This is what I want to hear, lush sounds, layers of chords, 4/4 beat to trigger the imagination, reminding me why I continue to support Ampoule/Talents artistic and creative endeavors. For me the best thing they have done since 2005 - cant think why this is listed as "Abstract".

Cheju - Bubble Wrap - 21-Jun-07 11:21 PM
Well crafted compositions, balanced melody with beat, glitch and a tinge of ambiance. Lovely album to listen to. Its the first Cheju album Ive heard, I look forward to investigating his other material.

Fabric Soap Stars - Welcome To Our World Of Beautiful Music - 10-Jun-07 08:18 AM
There are a couple of tracks on the website to listen to. This release is totally atrocious, an earache to listen to. I hope nobody actually handed over any cash for the CDr. All other Talent releases have had something to offer the listener, not always easy, but always challenging and rewarding. Why they even thought of releasing this particular material - sounds like a bunch of drunk college students having a bad night at Karaoke is beyond me.
