a much hyped release at the time. Not into big beat, but this is minimal breaks, very proggy like Krautrock. smoking album all and all especially for head phone listening. Lights, track 5, seems to be written from strictly samples of a wind up jack-in-the-box but like others the samples sound like theyre sourced from a million miles away.
Brian Eno With Daniel Lanois & Roger Eno - Apollo - Atmospheres & Soundtracks - 15-Aug-06 05:49 AM
Perfect for laying down to unwind before sleep. The spaced guitar strums hang for eternity and then twinkle down on you softly. Im putting "ASCENDING (ASCENT)" on a dreamcore mix for my insomniac friends.
Put it in the Dream Machine, if you have one.

The programming on this track is uplifting. When Lisa Fisher screams, "love is happiness.. love is tenderness... love is huggin and kissin..." it makes it a little too embarrassingly *precious* to play out, but if you got the guts to do it.. the more power to you and I give you great respect. I, myself, would try a beat juggle over the singing to warble the lyrics here.
If you happen to be playing a gay italo party this will set your mix on fire. the slow breakyness makes it great for booty dancing-- it is not a true 4/4. The dub side is sparser and is layered with scratch sampling.

Electro is ours for eternity. Spans decades, jumps continents. The aggressive Sexual Harassment “I Need A Freak” is hilarious sleazecore and he sandwiches it to “Freak-a-holic” by Egyptian Lover… oh, the irony! And while Andy’s laying down that freaky thang, you aspire to hear every track released by E.L. Alex Kid’s self remix of “Don’t Hide It” is spiraling acid amazement with dreary kiss-off vocals added to the original. Steve Bug & Mathias Schaffhauser “That Kid (Ha.te mix)” is the progressive left field house monster of 2004. Gotta love that he felt the need to bless us with a Speicher track. This track would set ablaze any Metro Area set. The last track Technova “Atmosphere” is a Joy Division cover off Hydrogen Dukebox.
Seriously, this is a floor mix so stay away if you’re craving the bedroom style house of Andy’s 2001 Hypercity mix on Force Inc. I came into the CD expecting more of that but was given something I had no idea I strongly needed/wanted.
Vainio / Väisänen / Vega - Endless - 05-Feb-05 09:24 AM
Suicide in the studio with finnish glicth gods Pan Sonic. Proto-industrial squack one-tone metronome. Gothic micro-house? Seemingly, four on the floor until Alan Vega wailing echo ensues.. bathing and breaking each track at random volumes. Goa-trance at millisecond intervals. So underrated, captures the grit of Suicide with Pan Sonic producing instead of Alan Vega messing up everything.
