Profile: I recently got envolved with Marmelade Music. Started re-launching the label at the moment as a techhouse/deephouse/future jazz label with a twist. We will only be dealing in hand-numbered limited recordings, 500 each, on red vinyl, and everytime with a special guest artist.
We have our official 12" debut scheduled for the end of september (Invite - Insure Your Shipment... it is being pressed as we speak!).

Alongside the 12-inches we wanted to have another small and flexible label, for the fun of it, so a bit of experimenting is possible as well. This label exists as of the 16th of August 2008, and is called Pocket Plastic. It will only contain 7" vinyl releases for now, maybe online releases will be in it's future.

All of these records (and more!) will be sold through our own distribution channel and our webshop. All releases on Marmelade Music and Pocket Plastic will also be available through Discogs and on our own parties.

Besides all this label activity, I am a total music addict, DJ'ing, producing, playing saxophone/piano and simply listening to music every minute I get the chance. Therefore I am also trading and collecting records privately.

Cheers,
Marc

Soho (4) - Hidden Sun / Good Times - 08-Aug-08 06:42 PM
In the first place, I bought this record for the a side: Hidden Sun. This track contains a nice and simple house groove which just got a hold of me in a way records do. Especially the funky bassline made me dance in the record shop.
However, when I arrived at home and spun it again, I was disappointed: Hidden Sun is the kind of house track that is very catchy the first time around, but bores within two or three times of listening.

I was thinking of trying to sell it, but decided to turn it around first and then I heard Good Times: The track starts with a nice beat and a filtered funky bassline, and then adds a sample of - I think - Rhodes?, which just filled me with the Hidden Sun promised in side A! I have never heard something so funky and so feelgood at the same time. A few weeks after, when I broke up with my girlfriend, I recorded this and kept on spinning it in the car to keep my mood up. It worked for me as it does on the dancefloor: This is my personal be-happier, make-lover for every housy party.
