Reviews & Discussion:
This is the original self-funded Aussie release (on some very flimsy vinyl) by the Heutling brothers (Peter and Otto) and was limited to around 300 copies. The Rage repress became possible when PCP gave the guys a P&D deal circa 96 but after that later, the Rage guys moved their labels to Steffen at Soundbase which spawned the sublabels UHF and X.
From what Lasse told me back in the day, this was a by-product of having Noize Creator over for a weekend and drinking copious amounts of piss. A highly aumsing piece of music and great example of just how much you can fit onto a single seven inch. The shout outs at the end are the funniest part of the record with a few people getting called out and shamed. Even Aussie ex teen pin-up Peter Andre cops a mention!
This record was pressed at the mighty mighty King Records in New Zealand (pressers of the infamous F##k Anna Wood 7" by Nasenbluten) and "released" to celebrate the first ever Line:out gig at the Rosemount Hotel in North Perth. November 2001 was the date of the big night and a right corker it was as well. There's an MP3 CD full of sets from the night floating around somewhere...
The record that started it all! A little bit of useless information for the trainspotters: When putting together this record way back in 1998 (before CD-burners were common place and affordable), all the tracks were sent to Mark N @ Bloody Fist on the other side of the country on 3.5" Amiga floppies in a jiffy bag for Mr N to master onto a DAT. One of the tracks ("Mind of a Maniac") was too big to fit on a single disc, so was saved as two seperate MOD files (one on each disk) that had to be reassembled before being committed onto DAT.
Yes it was tedious (cheers Mark for the effort!) and long winded, but by God making records was a hell of a lot of fun back then! | ||||
The breakbeat remained ever so faithful to the early 90s darkside coming out of the UK while the dark, brooding hip hop heavy hardcore would be emulated by many, but never quite as good as Gavin's interpretation.
Consisting of the brothers Burke, Gavin wrote all the hardcore tracks as well as breakbeat while his older brother Warren was strictly about the breaks.
