Lindstrøm - Where You Go I Go Too - 29-Nov-08 02:14 AM
This is probably my favourite album of 2008. Mixing what I see as the delight cheesyness of Giorgio Moroder beats and arps with Tangerine Dream -like marimba samples, I think this epic album kind of wraps together everything I liked about cheesy italo/disco and other synthpop genres.

Some say the album lacks dynamics and organic feel. I do agreee at some points, but personally I think WYGIGT is one of the few albums of 2008 that has signs of a responsible mastering process. You can turn up the volume a bit without growing ear-fatigue, and that's always a good sign.

Biosphere - Autour De La Lune - 01-Oct-05 04:42 PM
Without a doubt, quiet environments are convinient in order to get the "right" perception of this. To say something else than just brag about it being way too minimalistic for allround listening, I'm starting to accept the album after many listenings without success. Read an adventurous book, do yoga or whatever you find extremely relaxing (I had bad dreams when falling asleep during listening, though). Immersive gifts and a pair of speakers with good low-frequency expression are required.

As for direct description and references: your enlightment might at first eventually be track 3 using Sigur Rós' "Ny Batteri" in background, but then you're back in hypnosis once worse, deeper and more phobious hallucinations enter the soundscape. Beautiful minimal melodies and evil basslines cut each other like there's no going back. Once you're getting it, the last part of track 1 suddenly fades in and repeats itself and Autour De La Lune is over. Indeed a crossing between gramophone and audio-visual art. Try it.
