Terrence Parker - Tribute - 27-Jan-03 01:31 PM
This special release is dedicated to Detroit DJ legend Ken Collier. His untimely passing deeply touched me personally, as he was one of a small few who always supported me and my music.
Because Of Ken Collier, Detroit developed a dance scene, which inspired artists and producers to make dance records, which gave birth to Techno, which has provided careers for many of you in the business today. I dare to ask all you techno producers, DJs, record labels, record shops, techno magazines, clubs which play techno music, and fans of techno to pay respact to Ken Collier just as you would our other fine music innovators.
However this special compilation isnt about techno, its about H.O.U.S.E. sounds - broadcasting it to you live from the inside in lovely Ste-re-o ! This record contains no artist or tracklisting because I dont want want this to be about who made the tracks or even who wrote this commentary. This record is my personal tribute to him, and how he has motivated me to make my contributions to house music.
Thank you Ken Collier, for helping me to grow not just as a DJ, or a record producer, but as a person. Every DJ and dance artist here in Detroit owes thanks to you for going out into the musical forest, chopping down trees, thus paving the way for us to build HOUSE !
Solid Gold Easy Amex - Enjoy - 27-Jan-03 12:18 PM
Without any shadow of doubt the "future" mix by Paul Oakenfold is the best thing hes ever done. For me this is the greatest Balearic tune of all time. Anybody who has an interest in this genre could do worse than trying to track down a copy.
DJ Sneak - You Can't Hide From Your Bud - 23-Dec-02 06:04 AM
Apparently when Sneak was making this track he couldnt get the sample to loop properly. In frustration he reached for his bag of grass and had a smoke, after which he completed his loop without an further problems.
Hence the title, "You Cant Hide From Your Bud".
A Man Called Adam - Barefoot In The Head (Remix) - 23-Dec-02 05:57 AM
Classic balearic house. Makes me want to go down the beach every time I hear it.
Seven Grand Housing Authority - The Question - 23-Nov-02 02:36 PM
Head straight for the DJ edit. Used by Tony Humphries on the first Ministry of Sound compilation (when they used to release underground material).
