To say that Tommy Boy will cease to exist is not correct. The company has had a major change of direction and has sold its back catalogue and most of its major hip-hop stars. This seems to be the result of the cost of promoting hip-hop particularly emerging talent in an over-crowded marketplace. Management have now geared themselves towards the lesser cost of promoting its dance roster with a smaller staff and lower overheads.
