Roland Clark - I Get Deep - 31-Jul-09 11:37 AM
When this was initially released I bet it was a monstrous UG hit, but soon after certain Brighton based big beat producer lifted vocals from it to his monstrous hit and after that every one knew the lyrics. It's actually a bit sad that 'I Get Deep' is better know as a sample source than for its own merits. I mean, the original version, that's where it's at! Dirty, deep, lurkin', groovin', and those spoken vocals. This timeless production will tear any dance floor, anywhere, anytime. The remixes aren't that bad, but compared to the original they just sound very standard DJ tools. Needless to say this is a must have for anyone, whether you get it just for the accapella or then for the original mix.
DJ Dan - Put That Record Back On (Part 1) - 05-Feb-07 11:21 PM
You know, after all these years, this is still a bit special record for me. And that's all because of Peace Division's mix. I remember when I first heard it on Danny Howell's 'Nubreed' compilation - while driving a shitty Ford Ka during winter time in a shitty weather on a shitty road - and it totally blew me away. Still, of all the "good old" Peace Division productions this is a stand out. Kind of minimal, intensive, techy tribal beast with a very killer usage of vocals. A trademark example of their hypnotic grooving tribal tech. Even nowadays I still occasionally play this record and it makes my foot tap and head nod. Very, very good indeed and a must have for a Peace Division fan.
Fatman - Release Me - 20-Nov-06 02:40 AM
London/FFRR axis is very well known for releasing high class house classics, along side with below-average B-class house. This release represents both sides; the A-side is something to be left alone only because of the dredful pop-rap lyrics. So head to the B-side where you find slightly uplifting, very smooth and grooving Beatstrumental version. This instrumental cut is that kind of old house which I really like - just sincere, plain fun without any attemp to achieve anything too intellectual. Now, this isn't a lost classic, but if you come across with this in a flea market or you see in the bargain bin, you don't need to think twice wether or not you should pick this one up.
Pan-Pot / Daniel Stefanik - Extra EP - 16-May-06 04:30 PM
Daniel Stefanik's 'The Bells' is just crazy like Ricky Martin on acid. It takes its time untill the massive horns kick in but when they do it's just full-on techno carnival. There's nothing badly wrong with Pan-Pot's efford but 'Black Currant' is just your average piece of today's minimal tech house. But worth getting for Mr. Stefanik's remarkable piece of work.
Maetrik - Echando Alma EP - 03-May-06 11:30 PM
Buried treasure alert! 'Excursion' is insanely beautiful minimal tech house tune. I'm not generally too exited about vocaled tunes but this one a major exception. But it's not just the vocals - the chords, trippy beats and the dreamy feeling. A true masterpiece which has gone without the attention it deserves. The sad part is that the rest of this record doesn't offer anything that special. Nothing too bad, but then again, it would be had to overtake the beaty and elegance 'Excursion'. Hear it, feel it, love it.
