cv313 - Dimensional Space - 16-Jul-07 09:59 AM
Cv313 the biggest question, who is it? Rumours and rumours but not one real confirmation on who made such a brilliant record, holy lord! Im not sure what to write here or how to write it, all i can say is if you like the maurizio catalog as much as i do (esp. m4, m4.5 or m7) or the mainstreet releases, quadrant on planet e this is one of the missing links to the puzzle. No joke, could be the best record ive heard in the past 10 years. I was one of the fortunate indviduals to get copies of this at this years Movement festival and was totally floored after hearing it when i got home. I just cannot get over how good these songs are, like a whirlwind just lifted me off into space. Lush deep melodies and these pulsing synthesized reggae skanks which sound so analog and warm but yet can leave you shivering in its icy surface. This is the kind of tune that makes you feel like youve been touched by god for just a few moments, like everything is perfect and nothing can go wrong. The hypnotizing elements of these tunes makes you feel like these 12 minute voyages only last a second and just when you close your eyes you have to put the needle back to the beginning. No joke folks this is as good as it gets. Just listen for yourself and you will see what i mean, by far my favorite record in 2007. Can not recommend enough!

DeepChord Presents Echospace - The Coldest Season - Part 2 - 10-Jul-07 01:05 PM
Stunning suprise just wouldnt be enough to describe this 12" its everything i didnt expect from a deepchord / echospace related project. "Abraxas" is a tune which demonstrates their love for that deep drifting sound of Detroit & Berlin but with a really unique take on the sound which leaves you far in the artic regions. There is something in the atmosphere of these recordings, a certain subtle element no one is capable of replicating, its truly a sound echospace have created. "The Coldest Season" is a perfect title for such a body of work, i couldnt think of a better way to describe the feeling the tracks give you. The flip side "Empyrean" is hands down the dopest thing ive ever heard from these guys, a touch of reggae and an organ that just kills me everytime i hear it. This release will probably take a while to catch on, imho, its 10 years ahead of anything related to dub or techno. Unique just wouldnt say enough, this is the stuff of legend, Im sure even the likes of Rhythm & Sound would agree. Couldnt recommend this record more, a must have for any fan of the dub tech sound, the deepest sh$# on earth!

DeepChord - Vantage Isle - 11-Jun-07 03:18 PM
I had to remark on this delightful release of pure analogue goodness and is honestly the best release ive bought in many years, especially in this genre of music. I have to say the convextion "miranda" re-release was good and the remixes that of the same but this has even more feeling and i think a million times bettter. The original mixes from deepchord sound very true to their old school Detroit roots as if you had taken best moments of carl craig & model 500s deeper output and put through the basic channel filter. This is dub techno the way it should be, pure, raw experimentation with dubbed out effects and the largest scope & range to catalog this wonderful sound. Where as chain reaction / maurizio / rhythm & sound / basic channel fused an experiment of dub & berlin techno, these guys craft out a sound which has you feeling like theo parrish & moodymann teamed up with the berlin isolationist to form something new and different. The ending ambient and drifting excursions reminding us of the perfection achieved in the rhythm & sound catalog, although everything here sounds original and unique it still radiates that feeling of perfection. This is an echo-laden album with all the depth and heart you would expect from the berlin crew but done in Detroit where it all began, the origin of source and pioneers of the sound. Deepchord have def. left their mark in the world of techno and leave us with a truly remarkable voyage. If your a Detroit head as i am, this is one of the best treasures to come out of the Motor City in over 10 years, no question about it.

DeepChord - DeepChord 01-06 - 19-Apr-07 07:35 AM
I have to say this early work of deepchord is a milestone album filled with organic warmth and hidden depth submerged in its icy sound. The deep just got deeper with the huble duo known as deepchord which have credited Basic Channel as a huge influence in their production but yet seem to adventure into a sea of deeper thoughts. The melodies are quite simple, subtle but evolve in such a way it keeps the listener intently focused and mezermized by its subtle finess, something you could leave on for hours and it would feel like only a second went by. I would have to say this is a MUST HAVE for fans of Basic Channel, Maurizio or Chain Reaction, the sonic boundaries have been pushed forward from the hands of these Detroit based artist.

Just the other day i was listening to the whole collection of 90s era dub tech from basic channel, chain reaction, din, mainstreet, rhythm & sound, maurizio, etc and ran across the deepchord releases this one in particular standing out to me, as its so beautiful and unique. This to me defines the true essence of deepchord, this one release as its not like basic channel and company, its much more deepchord and really defines a sound they made. Somewhere inbetween time and space, the basslines in this 2 sided release are quite a perfect compliment for such a beautiful production, almost as if you submerged yourself into the depths of space and were left floating in zero gravity. The melodies in both songs get deeper and deeper and evolve over their 12 minute journey into an epic soundscape with an ocean of soul. This release really is one of the best dub tech releases to come out and my best advice is if you can find a copy its worth every penny.
