Have you ever been at a party and taken some acid, then forgotten about it? Have you then stuffed loads of other drugs down your throat, washed it down with cheap cider, and then 4 hours later found yourself writhing around on the floor thinking that you are some kind of 'yet to be discovered' animal, navigating an unfamiliar terrain using a new sense to guide you? Well I have, and this tune would have been the perfect soundtrack to accompany the scene. Check out the label artwork, it depicts the adventure perfectly.
This is undoubtably one of the greatest Havok releases, and one of my all time favorites. Excessivly druggy synths drive a relentless and dribbly grind from start to finnish. When people on a dancefloor listen to this tune, their faces screw up like they've just eaten a whole lemon.

I just listened to this tune,, what a diamond! I can't believe the low ratings for this tune, it's awesome....... It has a nice discrete intro loop, a non-offensive kik which allows it to mix well into any set, and a gorgeous little synth loop which makes everyone smile, as well as a sweet trancey 303. Of course the star of this tune is the legendary Bill Hicks. What a guy, what glorious samples - "We're rock stars against drugs, 'cus that's what george bush would want", "soul-less talentless suckers of satan's cock", "any performer who sells a product on television is for now and all eternity removed from the artistic world. I don't care if you shit 'Mona-lisa's' out of your ass on cue, you've made your fucking choice". 'You da man' Bill Hicks, England misses you. Simple as that......
Lochi - Acid Junkies / Tuneless Jul 26, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
An interesting (although incredibly nerdy) footnote is that the furbie sounds on the B side of this tune are actually the equivalent of 'mating calls'. When furbies are placed in front of each other, they 'talk' to each other, when a boy and a girl furbie are place next to each other, they make a very different, and distinctive sound which, according to the manual, means that the two electronic toys are actually in love.......Ah, how sweet....... What is interesting is that 'boy' furbies make a very different sound to 'girl' furbies, if you listen to this tune you will note that ALL the furbie mating noises are 'BOYS'... Gay furbies? How modern....
DK8* - Murder Was The Bass Jul 26, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
HOLY CRAP...........I don't believe it, this tune HAS actually blown out my bass bin! I was looking at the discogs comments on this tune and thought I'd give it a listen before selling it, and it's actually damaged the subwoofer on my surround system. I can't believe it, I was literally just reading about this tune damaging soundsystems, now everything sounds farty and broken! The Bass EQ on my mixer was (only) slightly up, but even so, this has never happened before. This is going to cost me a fortune to fix, and much more than the few quid that I can sell this for...

I am not happy...

Great tune, heavily overplayed thanks to UK radio stations.

CHECK YOUR LEVELS carefully before playing, or you may end up with a totally busted soundsystem like mine.

'B1 - locamotive' is hard to mix, because the lead 303's aren't sequenced in the usual 4/4 time signature. The 303 patterns actually repeat on the third beat, and the drums are very flat and quiet, which makes it hard (almost impossible) to count the beats. This track really is a twister, but VERY hard to mix. Best saved for special occasions such as catholic weddings and sick horse conventions. I absolutely love this tune, which proves that at least one person DOES like a smart arse.

EMERGENCY - Is a friendly good vibe tune with a funky 70's style intro loop, and a blissfully happy breakdown based around an old rave sample which repeatably says "emergency" at differing pitch.
TECHNO TREADMILL - is a long tune, close to 8 minutes, which samples a 'Jane Fonda' workout video, and a sample of dogs barking to create a really toe-tapping groove, with minimal percussion and great "keep fit and healthy" vocal breakdown. If you listen carefully, when playing this tune at the wrong speed (33rpm instead of 44rpm) you can hear that the hats and cymbals are actually modified samples of breaking glass, taken from the first track of 'The prodigy's - Music for the jilted generation', and the 'windows xp' error sound.
