Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits - 11-May-08 04:11 PM
Alas the title of this album is something of a misnomer as it only covers the bands hits from 1976 onwards, missing out the very successful blues-rock incarnation of the band in the late 60s. The early hits can be found on Discogs Release 946927
The lack of early material is presumably due to the band changing labels when they relocated to the USA.
In respect of the bands later career, particularly the era dominated by Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks it is an accurate compilation
Various - XL Recordings: The Second Chapter - Hardcore European Dance Music - 29-Oct-07 04:54 AM
Some of this may sound a little dated today but at the time no other compilation did quite as much to capture the moment.
XL were on a roll at the time and could do little wrong in the eyes of many DJs, if you went to a rave in the summer of 1991 you would have heard most of the tracks on this album at least once during the night.
If you want an historical document to the early days of hardcore it does not get much better than this.
Low Price Music - 03-Jun-07 04:02 AM
The 4CD sets all came with very simple card slipcases holding the CDs together. They were sold for about the price of a normal album. As each CD in the set had its own catalogue number and barcode the temptation for retailers was to split the sets, hence few complete sets now remain. I am not sure if the label also marketed the CDs individually
Tom Lehrer - An Evening Wasted With Tom Lehrer - 18-Jun-06 10:50 PM
Tom Lehrer was one of the most astute comedians of his time, while today these songs may sound a little tame, some were highly controversial at the time. His political commentary in songs like 'It Makes A Fellow Proud To Be A Soldier' and 'We Will All Go Together When We Go' was a daring move at the height of the McCarthy Witch Hunts, it was a vein of humour Lehrer would take further with the 1964 Release 'That Was the Year That Was'. ‘Poisoning Pigeons In The Park’ was released as a single while ‘The Elements’ has been played in chemistry lessons at many a school.
