Reviews & Discussion:
On Mangle 11, towards the end of the track, at 4:35 you hear a chopped sample of a female voice seemingly phonetically sounding out something like "aphex". This however is not the case, as the sample is seemingly from The Conet Project, disc one, track 22, "5 Dashes". The track very clearly resembles this particular sample, and a comparison only further supports my suspicion.
One of the finest pieces of modern electronic craft that I've heard, this record embodies a personality and individuality that you won't likely find on many other recordings. Constructed around many pre-gathered samples of, amongst many other things; country western themed television programs, a fistful of Roy Rogers, a bumbling old codger with a nifty tune in his head, and one or two requests to hear a song whose namesake would eventually end up being the moniker of a popular buffet-style restaurant.
I try to listen to this record at least once a week. I'm all choked up over willy. | ||||
