Reviews & Discussion:

Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto - Vrioon Dec 01, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
If you like this try "Three White Roses and a Budd" a collaboration between Fila Brazillia and classical Pianist Harold Budd. Or Harold Budd's collaboration with Brian Eno "The Pearl". They both feature classical piano, just like Sakamoto on this release, mixed with the type electronic music the collaborators are famous for.
Blue Nile, The Sep 24, 2003
Peace At Last is the more "electronic" of their albums. They use drum machines etc but the music is firmly in alt folk territory.
Orbital - Times Fly Sep 03, 2003
This EP changed my life, quite frankly. I first heard it perfromed live by ISDN on Radio 1 from the Orbital studios. It contained lots of samples of John Major speeches around the time of the criminal justice bill. They fitted perfectly and gave a lot of meaning to the songs. In the form it was released the EP is still brilliant, even though it only contains one sample: "New Age Travellers". Quite simply, for me, up there in Orbital's best few releases.
BBG - Snappiness Jan 26, 2003
This uses the same piano break as featured in Track 8 "Happiness (dub) (5:33)" on Soul II Soul's "Club Classics Vol: One". Goes to show the Nelleee hooper connection.
Anybody else spotted the resemblence between Sunflower and Brian Eno's track Ascent (An Ending)? As recently used in 28 Days Later.
BBG - Snappiness Dec 04, 2002
This track has a writing credit to Nellee Hooper (amongst others)
The track "Kernkraft 400" uses a sample from the "Stardust" level of the Commodore64 game "Lazy Jones" with programming and music by David Whittaker.

Merz - Merz Dec 17, 2001
"Starlight Night" uses the words from the poem of the same name by 19th Century poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. See: http://www.bartleby.com/122/8.html
Features a vocal sample from the Minnie Ripperton song "Inside My Love".
Original release of this album, untainted by rock-influenced tracks BT added to the rereleases.
