Amazing... is this word enough to qualify this outstanding EP ?All five tracks are a must haves in post-chicago house : deep, melancolic and funky as hell. The production is beautiful, the mixing is excellent, in the pure 87 tradition. I have a special preference for the "Planeta Juno" track, the most intensive in emotions. I was desapointed that the "Linguetta Acid" track edited by Hieroglyph Being, he just made too short, but this is a killer on the dancefloor. Marcello Napoletano has given us an intemporal piece of music.
This EP is just pure "Shit", against what was said in the first review, this is pure dope and the four tracks on it. This record gives us a very particulary ambiant and atmospheric mood, in an "electronica" style, sometimes jazzy on B2 with very simples melodic synth parts, sometimes dancefloor with a skinny groove on A1 which is just class, mental & dark. The A2 track is just beautiful and can remember a sort of "Boards Of Canada" tripped tune. B1 is a good melancolic and naive IDM tracks also very class and very groovy. Personally I love this record.
Martha High - Showdown / He's My Ding Dong Man

This is the kind of record I called "forgotten & underrated", that's a mistake and if you can find this, you will discover a real "boombastic" disco tune : "He's My Ding Dong Man", this track is just so smooth, so cool, so fresh. A perfect bassline, pops & bells are swinging on the melody, the vocals are perfectly measured, the kind of track you can play on an open summer floor. Showdown is more in a funky way, it's a good dancefloor track but this is not the big sensation of this record, the only interest is the break with his freaky synth. |
