Marcello Napoletano - A Prescription Of Love E.P. - 08-Oct-09 10:12 PM
Amazing... is this word enough to qualify this outstanding EP ? All five tracks are a must haves in post-chicago house : deep, melancolic and funky as hell. The production is beutiful, the mixing is excellent, in the pure 87 tradition. I have a special preference for the "Planeta Juno" track, the most intensive in emotions. I was desapointed that the "Linguetta Acid" track edited by Hieroglyph Being, he just made too short, but this is a killer on the dancefloor.
Marcello Napoletano has given us an intemporal piece of music.
Saint 13 - Saint 13 - 10-May-09 05:04 AM
This EP is just pure "Shit", against what was said in the first review, this is pure dope and the four tracks on it. This record gives us a very particulary ambiant and atmospheric mood, in an "electronica" style, sometimes jazzy on B2 with very simples melodic synth parts, sometimes dancefloor with a skinny groove on A1 which is just class, mental & dark. The A2 track is just beautiful and can remember a sort of "Boards Of Canada" tripped tune. B1 is a good melancolic and naive IDM tracks also very class and very groovy. Personally I love this records.
Martha High - Showdown / He's My Ding Dong Man - 03-Mar-09 12:43 AM
This is the kind of record I called "forgotten & underrated", that's a mistake and if you can find this, you will discover a real "boombastic" disco tune : "He's My Ding Dong Man", this track is just so smooth, so cool, so fresh. A perfect bassline, pops & bells are swinging on the melody, the vocals are perfectly measured, the kind of track you can play on an open summer floor. Showdown is more in a funky way, it's a good dancefloor track but this is not the big sensation of this record, the only interest is the break with his freaky synth.
FFWD - FFWD - 25-Feb-09 12:35 AM
First time I've heard about FFWD was with "Lucky Saddle" which was playlisted on the "Trance Europe Express - Volume 2" compilation, I've got this since a very long time, but I've never paid attention on it, when two months ago, I discovered this fabulous track, every sounds on it are a vision, it's just like you are... not a microphone but a camera... not the camera but the movie, the profundity of the synth elements is just fabulous. The atmosphere is really cold and very intense, it's like time was suspended, you can feel that you are living a very special moment when you're listening this, "the soundtrack of your life". Believe me, this is just ESSENTIAL in your record library. This is probably one of the best all time ambiant album.
Kaman Leung - Special Blends Volume One - 20-Feb-09 04:51 AM
For a long time I didn't know who was under this EP, but I can say that Kaman Leung was probably in the first Dubstep precursor, he release a kind of mix between "proto-dubstep" and old skool "UK Hardcore" for the track on the A side, which has got this powerfull bassline with a femal vocal gimmick that makes it very close from it. The track on B side could absolutely be playlisted in a dubstep dj set today, no problem, I think the style must be add on it. Dont wait to long to take the last copy, this is limited and probably very soon hard to find.
