Various - Earth Volume 4

Wow! Having loved volumes I and II of the Earth series on GLR, and been a bit disappointed with volume III, I wasn't too expectant of the fourth one. But I was proved wrong as this one is truly, truly wonderful. An audacious but entirely successful move away from Bukem's usual style of track selection - hard to describe except that it's a beautiful journey from start to finish. John Beltran's Aztec Girl and Makoto's Extension of Life are just stunning.. i dont understand how CaptainCook gave this masterpiece the luke-warm review that he did. Some if not all of these tracks were specially commissioned for this album.

voitek and xybot speak nothing but the truth - this is probably the defining mix of the mellow-end of drum n bass if ever there was one. bukem hits you with track after track of sumptuous, expert-picked grooves that simply do not get boring. the whole thing is interwoven with deep lysergic connotations that are a joy to listen to. Much Recommended!

What can I say.. this is a truly mindblowing double cd - an exceptional piece - even by Moving Shadow's high standards. Seamlessly meshing together sublimely mellow atmospheric drum n bass with funky upbeat pseudo-hiphop and dark, contemplative, and yet deeply sentimental jazzy grooves, Archive, for me at least, takes drum n bass to a level of musical expression that the majority of dnb artists either cannot touch or are simply unaware of. This is an absolute must-listen! | ||||
