Sperminator - No Woman Allowed - 16-Jun-09 03:39 AM
I think the previous reviewers are missing the point of gabba records by a long way. Its fun music to dance to and go completely mental to. It’s not meant to be chin stroked to. This was a big tune back in the day and if you break it down even further every part of it is absolutely rocking.
The menacing string intro, the growling synth and kick drums, the scream before the beats layer up on themselves giving great urgency and my favourite part the stuttering of the synth backed with some background drums. The tune then continues on to have another two great riff sections before finishing up.
And another great reason for owning this 12" is the superb slower B Side with superb sample from Harvey Keitel in the movie Saturn 3.
Unknown Artist - Untitled - 03-Dec-07 07:39 AM
Well i think the rumour about these mysterious records being the work of Peshay , Photek (or both) can be laid to rest by listening to the A Side. This is the same track as on the Pehasy & Roger Johnson EP on 2000AD Recordings - See The Light. Whether it was first released on this Street Beats first or was added to at the last minute to make up two tracks we may never know but it is such a gorgeous track i feel that it deserves as much groove time as possible.
Planetary Assault Systems - Planetary Funk Vol. 1 - 26-Nov-07 03:40 AM
I disagree with the previous users comment. This is my favourite of all the Planetary Assault System releases and is easily one of the most dancefloor friendly E.Ps Luke has ever done. Gated and In From The Night are stompers of the highest degree but the real highlight of this record is Twilight with its whistling like melody and lushious strings. Im not sure what Mr Slater is doing now but i wish he would make more tunes like this.
