Various - B12 Records Archive Volume 2 - 18-Dec-08 10:47 AM
This is classic techno from B12 and although things have moved on a lot in the electronic music world it still holds its own and is a pleasure to listen to in all its remastered glory. It is important to re-release this music since many people like myself didnt have a chance at buying the original records at the time so for that I am extremely grateful to the producers. Having said that I find it difficult to justify why they decided to print the back catalog over seven volumes and make each disk around 30 minutes (some much less!). This to me is pointless and the only benefit that can be derived from this is to draw out the releases as much as possible and milking what they can from the listener. Im hoping the rest of the collection proves me wrong.
DeepChord Presents Echospace - The Coldest Season - 30-Oct-08 10:59 AM
Stunning! the cover design and music reminds me of some of the vast expanses you can see whilst travelling through Canada, mid winter. There arent many artists out there that are capable of producing music with this level of atmosphere (if any!). Track names like First Point of Aries, Celestials, Ocean of Emptiness and Sunset, you can only imagine the blistering cold outdoors somewhere remote and looking up at the stars in an unpolluted, clear sky only to see the sunrise a few hours later as you gasp in awe of the sheer beauty, bitterness and brutality of such a climate. Emotional, atmospheric ambient, soundscapes entwined with dubby techno beats and echoes. The quality and composition of this release is exceptional. I would wholeheartedly recommend this cd to anyone who appreciates quality electronic music, perfect.
Younger Brother - A Flock Of Bleeps - 27-Aug-07 11:57 PM
Overall this is an excellent album that manages to progressively flow from good quality psy-dub to slightly more upbeat 4/4 goa. Unfortunately one thing that Posford cannot resist doing is using cheesy samples, whether from films, tv or a vocalist they usually almost always give it a pretentious feel (ive also thought this with previous Posford collaborations). Despite this one of my favourite parts of the album and arguably one of Posfords greatest production moments is track 07-Magic Monkey Juice, time:- 2.45 - 3.27.
Sven Väth - The Harlequin - The Robot And The Ballet-Dancer - 14-Jul-07 08:01 AM
Rich with texture and diversity like many of Sven Vaths albums although this for me is his best work. I wouldnt go as far to say this album is trance because it defies many bounderies which shows how forward thinking and innovative he was at the time, However I would go as far to say this as an album is one of those beautiful timeless classics.
L.S.G. - The Black Series E.P. - 13-Jun-07 04:42 PM
This EP for me is extremely influential and one I hold very close to my heart. Never have I heard anything in any electronic genre over the years so gripping, emotional and atmospheric. All tracks on this release are overwhelming in quality and in their production with long building, beautiful soundscapes and techno rhythms that helps make this EP stand out so much. Outstanding.
