M.I.A. - Bittersüss (Remixes) - 18-Mar-08 06:41 PM
I picked up this record second hand at Amoeba Music in San Francisco and, I have to say, I cant believe some sold this back! I have a particular connection with the Shonky remix. Be sure to turn up the mids and highs when you play it because they quite literally can make the song GLOW on a nice speaker system, showering the dancers with conflicted emotions... it is both dark and beautiful. Lovely, simply lovely!
D'Julz - Berlingo - 23-Aug-07 12:50 PM
This is an underrated record. I give it a five just for Sulo. It is a great transition track. After youve been dropping chunky basslines for a bit, this track will hit the spot with a good groove and just the right amount of melody. You just have to place it properly. Ive actually heard/seen people sigh on the dancefloor when the bass hits. The other tracks are decent too, but Sulo is the one.
Knife, The - Marble House - 02-May-07 02:47 AM
The Booka Shade Polar Light Dub is BAD A$$!!!! Intense, melodic, deep, dark, beautiful. I originally bought the CD Single that only had the Booka Shade Remix on it; then I saw that there was another mix. I debated, and my curiousity won me over--- and Im glad it did. The dub is amazing! It was worth buying the single twice to finally get it.
Steve Angello - Stadium Electro - 29-Jan-07 09:54 AM
Dont be fooled by the label on this CD. It says, and I quote, "Big Room House". Big room house my arse!! This is mediocre for my car, much less the main room at a party, or "Stadium". The tracks are okay to nothing special. I swear, Mixmag really needs to do better than this. I want to sue them for false advertisement. I have never seen a mix with more presumtuous labeling. Honestly I had a lot of respect for Angello until I heard this. Im not saying its trash, but it is just MEDIOCRE in every sense.
Thomas Schumacher - Home - 14-Jan-07 01:26 AM
This is a great album. I have to say, however, that Im curious as to how much of its greatness we owe to Schumacher... and how much to co-producer Stephan Bodzin. This album reeks of bodzin, where is seems a departure from the typical Schumacher. The truth is... simply EVERYTHING that Stephan Bodzin lays his hands on turns to Gold! Marc Romboy, Oliver Huntemann, and now, of course, the legendary Thomas Schumacher all owe so much of the flavor of their 2006 albums to Bodzin. High on You and ReGenerate are standouts for me. ReGenerate is full of intensity, and High on You has a great Synth riff. As I said though, file this in your collection under BODZIN!!
