Locum - Things To Do In John Denver When He's Dead - 14-May-04 06:54 AM
This CD is worth owning exclusively for the track "Will and Grace Theme" which was made using a toilet cistern precussively to emulate the synchopated piano lines in the TV series actual soundtrack.
Its also a reference to cottaging.

Solvent - Radio Ga Ga Pt. 2 - 11-Mar-04 09:43 AM
The extended mix is one of the most endearing, infectious electro/pop creations in recent memory.
I cant see why it would ever be unpalatable.
It has set up a colony in my record bag with other memorable entries from the Disco Nouveau series.

Magnificents, The - Kids Now! - 11-Mar-04 09:35 AM
True exponants of a fusion encompasing punk idealogies, raw analogue synth erruptions and pulses of live or programmed drum clatters. Cultivating a sonic style in the UK and Europe that has persevered idiots from London apeing the "Synth Pop" genre for spare parts.
The Magnificents are best represented by their music in either the charismatic deafing of their live shows or the vintage tonal intricacies of their recorded compositions.
They rise above the fashionista and decend upon ill prepared sound engineers like a cartoon grand piano.

This aside, at one time or another each member has played an arch-villian in James Bond movies with the word "Eye" in the title.

Milton Jackson - Can't Give You Up / Beatnick - 16-Dec-03 10:43 AM
Im not sure if this is credited but the keys on the a side are done by Stuart Allan, and hell get well pissed off if hes not mentioned...

LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge - 10-Dec-02 08:31 PM
This is an enchanting, wry commentry on musical elitism. It transcends the usual bracketing and subverts the notion of the musical rarity / accessiblity, reminding us that all the fetishism and condicending behaviour surrounding music scenes and genres is just self defeating. It does all this, and (lest we forget most importantly) it rocks.
Go get.... NOW!
