Profile: I've been a big fan of breakbeat for quite a few years now and began to build up a decent collection of CD albums, I recently took the next natural step and got myself a set of decks and I've caught the vinyl bug badly!

In addition to searching out new stuff I'm currently on the lookout for back issue breaks from the past few years (check my wantlist),

Feel free to contact me if you have any of these you want to sell on EBAY or otherwise (I will happilly pay a reasonable price), or even if you just fancy a chat?! I will also help as best I can with anything of mine you want, although I don't particularly want to sell anything just yet, I may be able to tell you where I got it.

If (judging by my collection) there's anything out there you would recommend that I get I would really appreciate your advice.

Kraymon - Just Press Play / Time Wasting May 27, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Kraymon's A side 'Just Press Play' is an exceptionally brilliant masterpiece of breaks production.

The track contains a punchy bassline and penetrating stabbing key notes with an ever present wavey, growling synth which holds it all together. The drop is absolutely sublime and forces you took take a good long inside your soul! The sample is taken from the epic drug crazed film 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' and shows just how perfectly executed a sample can be and is used in conjunction with the beats to create a uniquely quirky mood and tone.

The smooth and flowing B side 'Time Wasting' has the characteristics of a 'Lemon Jelly-esque' breaks mix (if there was such a thing?!), it has a funky groove and again a masterfully placed sample. Due to the sheer brilliance of the A side I doubt many people actually listen to this track much but if you've got it I urge you to listen again, it's the perfect breaks tune for winding down and ending the night with!
Vigi & Nectarios - Guru / 2cbeat (EK Remix) May 20, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This is an absolute stormer of a 12". I roginally bought the LP for the A-side 'Guru' by Vigi & Nectarious, a brilliant track with plenty of layers and a very infectious rising synth...

...however, it didn't take me long to realise that the EK remix of 2 C Beat on the B side is the 'hidden gem' of this vinyl, and instantly became my preferred track. EK has created a powerful emotion lifting track containing a hefty bassline and plenty of samples which brings just the right helping of funk which has come to be expected from the Streetwise label. It has me dancing like a fool everytime I put it on and is one of the best breaks tracks I've heard in a long while. AWESOME!!
Hybrid - Finished Symphony May 19, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
EPIC. What more can you say about this seminal tune which comes from the Debut Album 'Wide Angle'. It's a definitive classic and to top it off the Echoplex remix is an amazingly produced rework which certainly does the original justice with it's flowing, echoing vibes.

Hybrid's inimitable ability to blend classical with breakbeat and dance music genres (in my opinion at least) has never been matched by this unique and timeless piece of music that will rightfully be listened to over and over again by generations of vinyl junkies.

I love this record, it is the first record I ever bought and I will own it until I die...
