Music Export Lithuania Apr 03, 2009
This is not as a regular label we used to in OGS. Just the project to promote Lithuanian music and artists. This foundation is supported bu LATGA-A: Lithuania Copyright Protection Association. If you want to know what is going on in Lithuanian music scene - choose release from this set. You will find pop, but not so cheesy, rock but not too brutal, electronica but not very dark, instrumental but too boring. To say short: everything at a high value, but not too extreme.
Surprisingly a good album. Those two singers were participants of tv music-singing show and maybe because of that I tended to ignore any release that followed the show.
Apparently successful choice was traditional Lithuanian motives for the album. Folk and electronica cooperate perfectly here. And it is not an exception - it already happened before with others performers.
Another wining point for the album is the duo of Rasa and Jonas - they perfectly supplement each other by singing. Such album would be the one I'd like to "find again" every year.
Jurga* - Instrukcija Jun 19, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
The most anticipated album in the spring of 2007 in Lithuania. Jurga presents her own work after two years. This album became gold in abount two weeks. A lot of speculation were in the air: how Jurga will manage the music without A. Mamontovas (who produced the first album), will the new release be more vital or more depressing, vocal, electric, rock or instrumental.
It has everything. Downtempo tunes in track 9 fit in very well. No doubts this album reflects Jurga herself. Nobody can claim her in having influence from somebody. The vocal line is the strongest part of every song. Linas Rimša, Mario Basanov, Vee Diawara - these people did a great technical job.
As Jurga said "This album will be the test for the fans. It will show who really likes what I'm doing".
What could be said more: the audience could start waiting for the instrumental version of Jurga's songs released... and listening to "Instrukcija" while waiting!
Jurga* - Aukso Pieva May 04, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
Jurga - the owner of crystal voice. She is called Lithuanian Tori Amos. She won almost everything with this album: Best singer, the best song, best album, best debut. This album is one of the best releases in Lithuanian pop scene during past several years. Although some people accuse Jurga's first album of having too much influence from Andrius Mamontovas - famous musician and producer, but the sincerity and warmth of Jurga's efforts on this album makes it distictive from any other release in this genre. Wide range music can be found there - from pure vocal lines, pop and drum'n'bass (7) tunes.
Althoug track 3 - Nebijok was absolut leader in local radios, but I also suggest tracks 1, 4, 10.
Overall rating: "Excellent". Recommended!
