Phenophobia - James Bond Never Dies - 05-Sep-08 12:51 PM
How to sell a record...
Well, here's another dance remix for the James Bond theme, which was released in a few compilation and... who cares?
Once again, the real reason to get this 12" is it's B-Side:
A powerful 1/16 arpegiator bassline, which was so typical to the early 90's and still rocks!!!

The record companies, ignored this track and simply put the stupid A-side to their compilations. How boring. However, most Ravers never buy music because of a dance remix for a femiliar movie theme. They are just no as fool as the rest of the music consumers! Well, actually - even more fools, but know exactly what works and fix the brain...

DJ Tiësto - Theme From Norefjell - 18-Aug-08 03:37 PM
I could never stand Tiësto!!
No matter what they say, I think his music is crap! Simply as that. Cheap productions which were produced just to sell, and with a little luck and the right marketing became hits.

This tune is no different. A simple sweet licky tune, that can make you wanna throw up, on your pink ice cream dish even before you ate it.

However, there is a good reason to get this single. That's right, it's not because of Tiësto... DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis made a real spacy tune that cought my ear from the very first second. This is one of the tunes that stays with you after you heard them, and you can identify them, just by the first note. This "remix" has actually no connection to the original tune - what a waste to release it under the title of Tiësto. This tracks stands by itself and could be released as an indepened single. Well, maybe with a remix by... Tiësto - to promote sales.

The music industry is sometimes very strange. Pitty.
A must have for all Club-Trance lovers, but please put a sticker with DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis on Tiësto's logo.
Thanks, in advance.

New Order - Blue Monday - 23-Jul-08 12:33 PM
Ahhh... 80's eneergy...
This record was the start of the Hi Energy style and probably the beginning of dance music as it is today.

Bernard Summer was talking about this tune in an interview, telling that it was actually made in an old mixing desk, without any automation and with old analogue FX machines.
They had to do everything manually!!!

Can you imagine that?
I wonder how many hands there were on that desk during mixdown, because it sounds so perfect...

M.N.O. - God Of Abraham (Remix) - 13-Jul-08 10:01 AM
The Techno anthem itself is a good reason to get a copy of this record. However, what's really make this piece of plastic precious is those 4 live tracks on side B, which bring you the feel and atmosphere of the early 90's raves and spirits, which still remain very special.

The live show goes by playing the original tunes, plus some overdubbed keyboard additions, and live vocals. The audience noise sounds like it has been added later in a studio mixdown (if you put mics for the audience in a club, it may cause a serious feedback problems).

Though the sound quality of this recording is relatively poor, it's still an amazing piece of music history. A must for all old-school Tecchno freaks.

Ecstasy Club - Jesus Loves The Acid - 01-Feb-08 09:33 AM
The amateur mixing/mastering in this track were actuelly made this is track what it is:
There's a very wrong way compression on the master channel (or maybe is was added at the finilizing stage) - Since the bass drum volume is much louder then the other channels, it makes the volume of the entire mix to go up and down, like a pump. This makes sounds come and go - get near you, and return to the "mountains", and then back again, in a mettar of milli-seconds.
The result is a record which sounds very un-nuatural, and will make sense only for those who are drunk or on something...
Motown Records definitly would NOT sign this artist on their label... Acieeeeeeeeeeeeeeed :-)
