Rae & Christian - Spellbound Aug 20, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
Quite simply, the greatest modern soul tune to be made within these shores, and personally, the best of all time outside of rock and roll. An absolutely astounding piece of music that still gives me shivers up my back when I hear it. I feel humbled to have seen them play this live on the original promotional album tour. Bow in the prescence of greatness.

This record is all about the Common remix. It changes the whole record from a boom bap track to a smoothed out west coast vibe. It is one of the best remixes of any record I've ever heard, with the long slow synth intro dragging the sunshine out of even the darkest winter day. An absolute must for any hip hop fan.

Props also for the TLC and Brandi & Monica tracks which, although in their original form don't hold up to much, here are revitalised and are made very listenable. The Boy Is Mine is transformed into a club floor filler - well the chicks love it, so that's good enough for me!

As for who Sir Charles is, I have no idea, but this record covers all bases as far as hip hop is concerned: Ja Rule (I'll leave comment on the quality - or otherwise - of this dude's catalogue to others) to Nas to Common to Jay-Z (see Ja Rule comment) to Faith Evans, it's got a wee bit of everything.
Betty Wright - Betty Wright Live Jul 11, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
This record is not a 'live' recording, as anyone who has heard it will know. The audience sound is canned. Reasons for this are as yet unknown to me. The record seems not quite legit and the lyrics to the extended verion of Clean Up Woman might have something to do with it, where Betty is not being very complimentary towards some of the artists she is referring to within the song, especially Al Green. His 'Reverend' status is questioned and no-one is left in any doubt about how Betty Wright feels he acquired it (money seems to be a driving factor, according to BW).
