Reviews & Discussion:

Rockers Hi-Fi - Push Push Oct 22, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
"Push Push". Taken form the album "Rockers to Rockers" that track - an incredible mixture of almost every known electronic style with a dub-feel and a ragga-aesthetic - was exploding on the dancefloors all over the world when it first came out. Well, in Vienna it did. And, as I heard, in London too. Druggy, trippy, peaceful and exciting. A classic.
Peaches - The Teaches of Peaches Oct 21, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Peaches (born Merril Nisker) burst in the European Electro Clash scene in 2000 with her sexually explicit debut. Driven by raw groovebox beats her fearless apolitical genderplay found her lots of admirers. An incredible mixture of Annie Sprinkle and Grandmaster Flash.
Soundgarden - Superunknown Oct 21, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
"Cause I fell on
Black days
How would I know
That this could be my fate"
That song alone (Fell on Black Days) is a reason to buy this record; but the rest is as good (for the most parts): mid-70ies Led Zeppelin inspired tracks, psychadelic heavy grunge rock metal, full of great songs and brilliant arrangements. Designed to be a masterpiece. And "Opus magnum" it is.
Basement Jaxx - Junction EP Oct 20, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliff have been given a great gift - the ability to translate the basic ingredients of almost any given electronic music style (garage, disco...) into a dancefloor bomb for those who know (the DJs) and for those that just want to dance (girls and boys). This EP is a good example: the first track is an incredible acid monster, that should appeal fans of Phuture and Moet & Chandon alike.
David Joseph - You Can't Hide (Your Love From Me) Oct 18, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Produced by Larry Levan more than 20 years ago...still sounds fresh today. Especially the instrumental with its mellow strings and rhytmic handclaps could easily be used in a deephouse set. And people like Daniel Wang played it! Everybody interested in Metro Area and alike should be interested in this timeless classic!
Taken from the 1983 Italian cult movie by horror director Dario Argento "Tenebre" these two disco-versions are masterpieces. The horror-soundtrack of "Tenebre" and the electro-masterpiece "Flashing" will satisfy fans of quality italo disco and electro. Brilliant! Included in "Mixed Up In The Hague Vol." by I-F....
Nexus (9) - Stand Up Oct 13, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Could easily be mistaken for a Metro Area relase...but this record is more than 20 years old! Brilliant! Recently included in the brilliant "Ame... Mixing" (Sonar Kollektiv)...
