Power Band
Sep 26, 2007
Power Band is a concept name for Discomagic Records to create Snap's cover versions.
Starting from "The Power", following with "Oops Up", "Cult Of Snap", "Mary Had A Little Boy" and "The Hype" till "Rhythm Is A Dancer" and "Welcome To Tomorrow", this label published personal versions of all their worldwide hit singles. A megamix of the first five songs has been released too ("Snap It Up") and all titles have been included in several compilations for the italian market as well as foreign countries. The hit song is usually coupled with an instrumental and an unreleased track based on the main idea of the smash hit. Later throughout the year the Power Band name has been used to release dance cover versions of pop tunes such as Naomi Campbell's "Love & Tears" and "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" made popular by Michael Jackson as well as other massive dance characters (La Bouche).
Noell Abedul - This Beat Is Technotronic / My Piano

The whole Noell Abedul project provides Technotronic's cover versions for Discomagic Records.
This label is famous to create personal versions of dance hits and in this case the third Technotronic single ("This Beat Is Technotronic") has been coupled with an instrumental ("My Piano"), very Technotronic flavoured. Sometimes these cover versions sound better than the original ones: they are realized emphasizing the main formula of the song highlighting it. All the tracks produced under the Noell Abedul name have been collected into an album ("This Beat Is Technotronic-The Album" Cat. Ref. Discomagic#392), and several compilations have been published too ("Get Up Compilation" Cat. Ref. Discomagic #380, "Technostyle Compilation" Cat. Ref. Discomagic #390). Apparently the stage name of Magnetix has been used for a couple of tracks ("Rockin' Over The Beat" and "Come On"), but basically the team behind the project is the same. | ||||
Vocals reminds Taleesa's style, and she could have provided them!
At the end of the day she collaborated with this label before her solo successful career with Time Records ("Living For Love" was a single published under the name of Talysa on the same label), and don't forget that Discomagic Records and Time Records have been partners from the 80's till 1995.
This version had been included in a compilation album called "Meha Hits" released in 1991 (Cat. Ref. Discomagic CD#620).
