Gog (2) - _Noriah Mills - 27-Sep-09 06:01 PM
This is the third release Ive heard from Gog while being the first release by Gog itself.
It immediately opens up with an ambient piece. The treble is of gentle reverberations and oscillations; the bass lilting below with the pattern of softer then harder. The last track is much longer, and much more developed. It begins with lo-fi guitar chords. Eight minutes in the piece breaks away from lo-fi and starts with the gentle undulations of a drum machine and the static groan of electronics. At approx. 11:45 the piece changes mood with a more commanding drum line adding cymbals to the timbre, and the guitar churns along with much more treble. Feedback squalls develop and the feeling of white noise surrounds the aural landscape. Following the piece along gracefully, digital clipping is used in the development of the guitar as it calms slightly. The piece is now characteristic of drone, but with a drum machine yet. The finale fades into white.
Great release. Too short.
