Reviews & Discussion:

Carl Craig - Fabric 25 Mar 17, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
One of the best fabric mixes so far..
Opening using the "whisper song" is genius..
A lot of the tracks Craig selected are very rythmically simple, but the mix is sure to get you moving.
Richie Hawtin - DE9 | Closer To The Edit Mar 17, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Breathtaking release, and must get for any minimal fans.
Taking tracks from some of the best in the scene and completely recontextualizing them.
maybe even better than the others in the DE9 series.
Its a perfect mix all the way through, locking you into its deep hypnotic grooves.
Villalobos* - Alcachofa Mar 17, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Essential purchase.
Ricardo layers organic rhythms over odd noises and melodies.
Hypnotic and trance inducing to the max.. seems to slow time to crawl.
If you like this, check out Dandy Jack - who he has worked closely with.
Ricardo Villalobos - Achso Feb 24, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
More hypnotizing rhythms from Villalobos with odd samples and effects going off in the background..
This man is defintely at the top of the minimal scene.
Killer!

Kelley Polar - Love Songs Of The Hanging Gardens Feb 24, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Rock solid debut LP for Kelley Polar and one of the best releases on Environ in recent memory.
Compared to some of his releases as the Kelley Polar Quartet, he shows a stronger italo influence on this release.
Here, Kelley breaks out the insanely catchy disco grooves with his wonderful viola playing and vocals.
Lets hope this isn't the last we see of him!

Skalpel - Konfusion Feb 23, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
superb record, you can see that Skalpel's sound has really matured from thier debut. They continue to mine 60 and 70's polish jazz records for samples, but Konfusion has distinctly darker and more serious sound. Leaving behind the rigid song structures of thier self-titled release also benefits thier sound a lot - the cd feels like one extended groove session.
