Plaid - Spokes - 19-Mar-05 11:55 AM
I bought this LP because its a Plaid release. Its usually enough to get good music. The first times I listened to it I was quite dissapointed, I couldnt follow any melodies (melodies are a strong point in Plaid material), I coulnt figure out the structure of the songs. I usually dont sell records I dont like, giving them a 2nd chance, but I thought I would. Hopefully I did not!
Most of the songs have long intros, skip them or just forget them when listening and after few listening youll find some great masterpieces on this album. C1 and D1 are ones of this kind, the 1st half of the song is very weird (you can play with the pitch and you wont notice major changes --> because of the weirdness of the melody).
Finally I would say listen to it many times and youll discover really great passages or even tracks (youll get a better view of the full track after appreciating the great part, and will discover all the building up to it).
Buy this album and play it loud, youll get great impressions and feelings!

Kiki - The End Of The World (Remix) - 29-Oct-04 07:41 AM
I first heard it in an Ellen Allien mix, and did everything possible to learn what it was. Dark guitare stabs and devastating 80s style synth riff. This is really a killer track!
Get it quick, its limited.

LFO - Freak - 20-Oct-04 08:11 PM
Freak as the title says is going to make you FREAK! Devastating bass, and half way of the track a part going insane with beats everywhere, and when its getting too much, too noisy, too high, you get back too that good old bass you can feel all through your body. Maybe the best cut of 2004! Dont listen to it, just feel that bass!

Serge Gainsbourg - Electronica Gainsbourg M2 - 20-Oct-04 08:11 PM
Since Serge Gainsbourg is a great french singer and composer, it was a hard job to come with good, interesting remixes. I can only see one good one, the Sea, Sex and Sun remix with a funky bass, Là-bas cest Naturel is a deep house mix not too bad. The A side is crap: a tribal mix of Marabout, and a mix of No Comment that is very close from the original that dont bring anything new to the original track.

Autechre / Alexander Robotnick / Kinesthesia - Radio Caroline Volume 1 Sampler - 20-Oct-04 06:51 PM
I dont know much about Autechre, but I heard many people saying it was good before, and now they got lazy, or that their music lacks of purpose. In the case of that record their track is damn good, nice melody and beats like youd expect from WARP or Rephlex artists.
But the best track is definitly the U-ziq remix of Kinesthesia, its simple but I love the sound of the bass, especially when it gets alone. Everything I heard from U-ziq so far was great, does anyone knows about a bad release?
