ShowMeEyes - One Bright Coma - 03-Sep-09 12:41 AM
Recorded during the Spring and Summer of 2006, this CD contains 3 main songs accompanied by 4 "soundscapes" and offers a more ethereal approach to the recording process of ShowMeEyes. Here, the artist offers you warmer songs with a minimalist approach using drawn out guitar moans, quiet vocals, and romantic song crafting that takes you away to the dustbowl parts of Texas towns (Amarillo By Mourning, The Neck Of Marfa) and includes a very heart warming homage to the great French Swiss-born architect / designer, Le Corbusier. This limited version of One Bright Coma also includes 2 bonus songs (Box Of Stars PT. 1 / PT.2) which have been created for an upcoming Sparklehorse tribute (That Horse Yonder), yet to be released.
Dear Wolf - The Falldownstandup - 10-Mar-09 12:12 PM
For some time in the 90s, DEAR WOLF have been a well-known part oft the German alternative music scene. With their fifth studio album "The Falldownstandup" once more they present their impressive musical skills. A voice with a creepy Glenn Danzig vibe, accompanied by a heavy bass guitar, euphoric choruses, plain melancholy and a few surprising elements - already the first time you listen to this record, you will be enchanted by these catchy tunes. DEAR WOLF are compareable to bands like PLEASURE FOREVER and MADRUGADA, if you wish to pigeonhole them. But, after all, DEAR WOLF have been inspired by such a wide range of artists that they pretty much developed their own style over the years. Rather than only writing "simple" songs, DEAR WOLF are storystellers like JOHNNY CASH, JOE STRUMMER and NICK CAVE, their songs haunt you, they catch you, they wont let you escape. For example, "Sister Ray" impresses with a bombastic chorus and a combination of traditional Alternative elements and modern fragments you might as well hear from IGNITE. It is almost impossible to peg their music as a certain style, but whatever wish to call it, people with a distinct passion for music will love this record. A comeback which is far more than just satisfying.
Parade Ground - Rosary - 18-Aug-08 10:03 AM
Puh, very strange music compared to their nice pop music from the 80s. This music sounds more a little bit like CINDYTALK, when they made "noise" and industrial "music". It is a kind of "electronical hard noise music" A few songs are worth to listen to them, but dont expect anything like the music from the first album "Cut Up" in 1988. What more should I write? Unfortunately not my music anymore :-( Too much noise instead of music. I cant recommend this album.
Black Swan Lane - A Long Way From Home - 17-Apr-08 12:38 PM
This is a fantastic record, the music so sad and happy at the same time. Unbelievable, this music will touch your heart and soul!! Most of the the songs are slow or midtempo. If you like "The Chameleons" you should buy it!!! Unfortunenately this album is only possible to buy through the internet, because "Black Swan Lane" have no real record deal. The length is over 70 minutes, so it is worth to buy this record. You can get it at their homepage at "myspace" or at "Red Sun Records"
