Ras Dva Records (meaning One Two in Slovak (Polish and others) and pronouced by rolling the "R" Rrr_ahs then, Duh_Vah, not spelled D.V.A.) started in mid 1994 by WMSE Radio DJ Ric Laciak in Milwaukee. The main reason for the label name was from an old form of a saying Ric's parents would say to him when he was young: "Ras dva, ras dva Ric!" - meaning "1, 2, Ric..." or something like "hup two, hup two..." or ''Hurry Up'' or ''Real Fast''. 'GAWMUS' was also managed around 1992 to 1995 for the 'Zoth Ommog' band Leaether Strip. Around 1991 to 1992, work was done as a DJ at WMSE 91.7FM Milwaukee, as well as 'Industrial Nation Magazine' in Iowa City and Chicago. Work for Talla 2XLC (owner of 'Music Research/Zoth Ommog', and member of 'Bigod 20') was done in 1993 and 1994. Projects included working on the 'New Music Seminar' in 1993 in New York Ciry, the 'Armageddon Dildos' CD 'Lost' in 1994 and 'The Alternative Press Compilation' in 1994, both while in Germany and Chicago. The actual time worked with 'Zoth Ommog' was about 2 months in Germany. Talla asked if Ric could head up 'Zoth Ommog' in 1994, but that would have required a move to Germany - this did not happen. Sad.
In late 1993 a project with Gary and Dwayne Dassing happened in Texas called 'Parking Lot in Drug Form' and the first 'CD Sound Compilation' for 'Industrial Nation' was mastered in Texas with the help of Dwayne's friends. Soon, the rights to 'Benestrophe' were secured, which became the first 'Ras Dva' CD release on October 25, 1994. 'Ras Dva' is best known for the 4 CD compilation, 'There Is No Time' with nearly 60 bands and selling for under $25.00. For various reasons, the label was slow to sell what became its last release, 'Jihad: A Prayer in the Night'; after this, the label stopped releasing CDs in 1997, and in 1999/2000 sold stock to 'Metropolis Records'.
'Parking Lot in Drug Form', was a one-off-fun-in-the-studio-project with Gary Dassing of 'Mentallo & The Fixer', this happened during the mastering of the first 'Industrial Nation Compilation' CD in Texas 1993, versions of the work appeared on the 'AP compilation', and 'There Is No Time'.The label came back in 2006 - and hopes to work with new bands in the future.
