Cosmic Baby - Stellar Supreme - 02-Dec-04 01:00 AM
What a fantastic cd...I suppose you would classify it as techno/trance/ambient but it is also unlike anything I have yet heard - its almost a mix between classical music and techno. My favourite tracks are the first few tracks on the CD, especially THE SPACE TRACK. Note: its worth checking some of Cosmic Babys other stuff, to see if you would like this CD, but I think its hard to find now (in Australia anyway). Stellar Supreme Indeed.
Paul Oakenfold - Global Underground 007: New York - 03-Sep-03 04:14 AM
Disc 1 is fairly typical trance throughout (and very good too).
Disc 2 starts out different, with drum n bass / jungle (Im not sure the difference between the two) which is not unlike hip hop (plenty of bass), then the middle bit is fairly average trance/dance but the last few tracks go together so well and are some of the best tracks I have heard in a long time. I particularly like Private Productions - Sex Drive (listening to it right now!) and BBE - Deeper Love (Symphonic Paradise). Sure the cd sounds dated, but WHO CARES if it sounds dated if its such a delight to listen to. I dont judge music by its age but by the quality of the music itself, as do most people I guess.
4 out of 5 for this effort.
Various - Rave Mission Volume VII - 27-Jul-03 07:54 PM
This CD is great - one of the best of the series. Tracks like E-Space - Trance Research, XXL - Soccer Boys (Red Card Mix) are among the best trance tracks I have heard and songs like Demonic Emotions - Stuck On A Spacetrip (also features on Rave Mission Classics Volume 01) and Indris - People of the World are among the best rave/acid tracks I have heard in a while. And of course Magnetic Pulstar - Secret Love is a really great trance(y) track!!
I reckon 1994, 1995 and 1996 were the golden days of rave/trance!
Various - Ravermeister Vol. 7 - 09-Jul-03 10:42 PM
Living in Australia, it is very hard to find Rave Mission and Ravermeister cds, so you can imagine my surprise when I found this one in my local CD store, for AUD $20 (that is a good price for 1 cd, it is an EXCELLENT price for 2 cds). Of course, without thinking, I bought the cd.
For the most part, I was pleased with what I got. Sure, there are some not-so-good traxx here, but there are also some really good ones.
Of course, chances are if you havent heard anything off Sub Terranean (the label who release Rave Mission, Ravermeister and many others) you quite possibly wont have heard much of this style of music. I suppose its best described as rave / acid / hard trance, and its my (almost) favourite type of music, so my review might be a little bias.
My favourite track is either Nostrum - The End (Gary D. & Dj Yanni Rmx) or Kenji Hurricane - The Peace (Edit).
Worst track is most likely The Freak & Mac Zimms (IMO)...for some reason people seem to like this song, but to me its repetitive and irritating.
4 out of 5 for this effort, Ravermeister found its way again after the somewhat sad effort of Ravermeister 6.
Various - Ravermeister Classics Volume 2 - 05-Jul-03 05:58 AM
While this CD doesnt have as good a tracklisting as Ravermeister Classics Volume 1, on a whole I like the CD a little bit better. This is most likely due to the fact that I had previously heard almost all of the songs on RCV1 well before getting the CD.
If you like Ravermeister, Rave Mission, or any release from the label Sub Terranean you will most likely enjoy this CD, which acts as part two of a two part "best of" the Ravermeister series.
