Reviews & Discussion:

Ok, so the A side here is a cheesy 80's soul tune, all be it one that I actually used to like back then. But flip this 45 over for an absolute sublime mid-tempo soul tune that's almost bordering on boogie. The track was actually recorded in 1980, despite the fact this single wasn't released until 1985, taken from the album Radiance, and was in fact the main hit from the LP. Sharon Bryant's vocals compliment Clifford Archer's bassline, to much better effect (IMHO) than Barabara Weathers could ever have managed. If all cheap 45s were of the quality of When Love Calls, I'd have saved a lot of money on expensive 45s, and be a lot happier for it!
If I'm brutally honest, most of the tracks on this LP are at best average and at worst, down right bloody awful, but, and it's a BIG but, if you don't know the track Insatiable, then (especially if you're a DJ yourself), you're missing a killer. I can remember standing in the crowd at the Southport weekender when this came out and watching the crowd reaction when Danny Rampling dropped it into the mix. Awesome! It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it even now! It was in my play box for a long time and still comes out from time to time just to drop in the mix.
