Frantic* And Impulse* - Vol. 1

Classic piano oldskool record with simple but effective beats and catchy melodies. Worth every cent i spent for it. Allthoug I don't know how to dance to records with over 150bpm this tunes make my body go moving, make me drive above speed limit, whistling the piano-melodies nerving my girlfriend (hating this kind of music) or just enjoying live sitting in the sun.
Classic tunage for all oldskool breakbeat lovers... period! Definiteley a 5 out of 5. Anyways, i don't get the point in charging 50pounds or more for such records. Stop this price-madness! A most ordinary release, which can be reduced to track 4. This is the one that dominates this cd and the 12" releases and it is the reason that it got my 5 points. I heard this track in a mix by Steve Mason in 1995 on BFBS Radio and since then it became one of my favorite house/breakbeat/hardcore/techno mashup tunes ever, next to Josh Wink's "Higher State of Consciousness" and Theriot's "The Wicked".
In my opinion it could still be played today. Classic 1995 stuff.
D.J. Tonka* - Old Skool / Use Ya Ears

'Use ya ears' should be the a-side. Absolute smooth house track with fat beats and a deep melody. Just to get it right, old skool is a fantastic track and would get 5 out of 5 stars, but the b-side wins on this one! tonka's style of making housemusic on force inc. us got me into the deep and funky house scene. later releases on different labels which hit the charts all over europe aren't bad but lost their deep and funky feel.
The problem is... a lot of people don't use their ears... SO TRUE!

A nice compilation of what was hot on the dancefloors in central europe summer 1994. The mixing is plain but effective, tracklisting is just right when you're into eurodance stuff. This compilation is very hard to get and very popular amongst collectors of unofficial mixed compilations like "deep dance". This series lasts from 1992 to volume 25 in 1998 and 2 special yearmixes for 1993 and 1995. This compilation here is named grandmix 1994, don't ask me why it got no special release! The hardest techno record on planet earth. I don't give a damn if it is called 'Schranz', Swedish Core' or whatever, this is what comes to my mind when i think of the evolution of techno since Joey Beltram dropped Energy Flash! No melody, all ingredients add to the pumping bassline! Analok is a killer! Thanks to Slovenia and Umek for this brilliant mind killing piece of electronic music. As mentioned above, this record contains samples from the motion picture "Robocop", where the fully mechanical type is presented first, just to go on a rampage due to a software failure. Anyway, this record uses a extremely pitched up breakbeat later to be used in "Rhythm Quest - Closer to all your dreams (Hibrid mix)" and for me its a cornerstone in the evolution of hardcore/junglemusic in the late 80's uk just like Rebel MC and Shut up & dance. Shift this gangsta hiphop and get this one... real hardcore!
TUNE! This is one famous house record. The Mount Rushmore Remix on the a-side is the funkiest vibe i ever heard. There's one repeating line that sounds like Barry White saying: "It's a vibratory thing..." surrounded by a wonderful beat and funky basslines. For me one of the best houserecords of the 90s. Get it! | ||||
One of the greatest gems in uk breakbeat and music history!
