Chris Liebing - 02-Mar-06 01:57 PM
Chris Liebing is one of the most influential djs around today. I have seen him spin probably over 50 times and every time is awesome. His music may be repetitive, but that's what the kids like and that's what is fun to party to. Now that he is moving to softer techno I don't enjoy his sets as much, but I still count him as one of my favorite djs because of his passion for the music. I am happy that he has gotten so big because he deserves the credit for helping techno gain in popularity in the past couple years.
Slam - Fabric 09 - 02-Mar-06 12:56 PM
This cd was a great surprise to me. Usually I don't really care for tech house, but a friend sent this cd to me so I figured I would give it a chance. Right from the beginning this cd had my attention. The track selection is phenomenal. I especially liked track 3, John Thomas' Working Night. That track is sick! I enjoyed this cd thoroughly. When the cd progressed into the techno I was a little upset because I wanted to hear more tech house. This is now one of my favorite mix cds. I would highly recommend this cd to anyone who listens to tech house or techno.
DJ Detonate - 02-Mar-06 05:53 AM
DJ Detonate is a breath of fresh air to the electronic music scene in the Seattle area. In an area where every dj spins trance, breaks or dnb, DJ Detonate chooses to spin hard techno, never faltering from start to finish. I have seen him spin on a few occasions and his technique is flawless. His track selection is perfect, choosing the most high qualtity techno while keeping his set flowing with no awkward track combinations. His sets pull all the kids to the dance floor, forcing them to dance even though most of them have never heard hard techno before. I would highly recommend that anyone that has a chance to see him spin to go and enjoy, especially if they are a fan of techno. He also promotes parties through his production company, Klubstompers. They throw the only real techno party in Seattle every year during the summer, called Stompin In Da Woods, which lasts all weekend.
Nirvana - Bleach - 01-Jan-06 12:29 AM
I had to mature a little to really appreciate this cd. I bought it after Nevermind, and wasn't ready for the unpolished, raw emotion of it. Now I prefer to listen to it over Nevermind. Track 11, Sifting, is one of my favorite Nirvana songs. You can really hear the pain in Kurt Cobain's voice when he is screaming "preacher said, teacher said, don't have nothing for you". Sadly, this track was never a big hit and rarely played live, outshadowed by the soulful About A Girl, and more punk influenced School.
Jason Everman was credited as playing 2nd guitar on the album. He actually did not, he just fronted the money to have them recorded so they put him on it. He did however play with them for a while at some of their shows.
Umek* - DJ World Series: Techno From Slovenia - 26-Dec-05 02:40 PM
This is an average cd, nothing spectacular. I've loved Umek's Torture Chamber 2 mix cd for quite a while so when i got this cd i was a little dissapointed. Maybe he made this cd before he learned all his dj tricks? In comparison to his other mix cd, this just feels like an average mix with average tracks. I do however love the Kemu & Shark track Afrotek. My biggest problem with this cd is that all the tracks are actually on one track. Couldn't the people that made this take the time to cut up the tracks?
