Reviews & Discussion:
This is a piece which definitely stirs up the brainoffice and leaves prints all around. Even though not all tracks are bombs, the disc keeps a decent level of quality and with deliveries as those by Derango and Atriohm, one cannot do anything else but to smile. This disc should be a good choice for both DJs as well as record collectors, and there are moments woven into this piece that works absolutely great on the floor as well as to create a dreamy atmosphere in one's home.
Favorites: 2 (!!), 5, 6 (!) and 10.
As usual, Shulman’s music brings up a lot of emotions within me. First, I perceive this album not as trippy as their previous ones. This is still music which triggers feelings and brings mental peace one way or another. At one hand, this album might feel more “mature” compared to the other two, yet it is more playful with the segments of jazz excursions for example.
All-in-all, it makes a good third piece in Shulman’s discography and a worthy follower of the masterpieces, counting the debut on Shaffel and the follow-up on Aleph Zero. I wouldn’t say I enjoy it as much as I enjoy the other two and it may be wrong to compare them as much as I do despite how much I’d like to see it as “one” and “one only”. An easy conclusion to draw though is that this record will bring joy to a lot of homes and to a lot of people. I’d also like to add that the artwork is awesome. I may sound like a freak who is unwilling to see flaws due to my admiration of the duo as I’m not really pointing out anything I feel could’ve been better or what could be a typical evident flaw. But what can one do if the music is as good as it is? Well done guys, and thumbs up for Aleph Zero. Favorites: 2(!!), 5 and 7(!).
Wow, this might be the most difficult summary I’ve written in years. First, I believe that the general trance-Joe will fully enjoy this piece while the music-fetishists, record collectors and early Parvati/Tourist-fans might think a bit different about it. Just a theory, that’s all. There’s a few tracks here that I like and there’s even fewer tracks that I really, really hold dear. Generally speaking, this album has some fresh ideas that I find myself enjoying. I could split this album in two; one piece being the “screamy” leads group with the many, many squeeks (i.e. “Noname”) – while the other being filled with surprises, fresh ideas and some serious business that at least got me going (i.e. “Chopper” or “Fairchild”). The first group mentioned above is not poor nor bad, but I just don’t connect well to it. The second group is o la la – al dente and simply sweet. All-in-all, I believe it’s a good debut album even if I weren’t too spellbound by the vast majority of the tracks here but the piece still feels “complete” and I know that there are people out there who already do or who will really enjoy this one. Hats off for the Tourists.
Favorites: 1, 3, 8(!) and the hidden track (!!).
With cosy beats, lovely melodies, intelligent elements and beautiful atmospheres this album has a capacity of produce different feelings within the listener, depending on what the listener wishes for. If you wish to enjoy intelligent IDM/dub and that is what you're looking for you have hit the spot, and if you wish and look for an album who's suitable for exam studies (tested and approved!) or other activites where the album's just going to spin in the background this CD is going to be well suitable for the purpose. This album is difficult to compare with the previous two, who are in my humble opinion a bit more like each other than this one are to them. One thing is clear though, and that is that this album quickly grew to become my favorite album from Bluetech.
Favorites: 3(!!), 7, 9(!) and 11.
You don't read 'psytrance' and 'Argentina' in the same sentence everyday and whenever it happens you surely sharpen your senses to find out more. The vast majority of the tracks here's about 140-143 BPM and the fastest track measures 145 BPM, a bit different from what usually goes around these days.
This compilation is special, and even if not all tracks individually are top-performers they are belonging together in some way, and the compilation have judging by my ears a clear story from the start to the end. There's no tracks here that stands out as being "less good", but there are a few tracks here that I just don't seem to connect well with and I haven't been captured by em. The superior moments here are for sure Megalopsy and Frantic Noise vs. Pragmatix, and the CD as whole stands out because it feels different. May it be that the atmospheres surrounding it feels different, I can't honestly point out what makes it special, but it still feels different. An interesting debut release, and I hope we're going to see more from these labels in the near future. Favorites: 7 and 8.
The thoughts that are travelling in my mind when thinking of this album is many, and the feelings are many as well. The first times I listened on this album I thought that this is good, but it lacks that little special thing who makes you wanna go back and listen to it again. But after I had listened to it numerous times I started to discover more details, more feelings started to grow within me and that thing who earlier was just something "average" transformed into something intelligent and beautiful. This is one of the best friends you can have in your case during summertimes when it's time to chill.
This disc drops down in the mailbox as a sonic bomb who makes no real harm then some damage to the psyche, but instead it grants you an emotional enjoyment who strikes harder. The compilation grows on to you for each listening session and the disc's buildup is perfect. It works to spin in the home to enjoy, but it also works to get people screaming at the dancefloor as well. I'm gladly surprised! The cd doesn't bang beats of peak from the beginning to the end, but it does breathe great consideration instead who gives a massage to the ears using various techniques.
My favorites on the disc is track one, six and ten and this disc is recommended to anyone who'd like to know what a rainy morning in the russian forest might feel like! Thanks Inpsyde Media!
There is no doubt - buy it today! Derango's debut album really corresponded to the expectations and if not even more! It was a long time now since an album dropped into my mailbox and felt so fresh throughout the whole piece! No track does sound like another but everything definitely sounds Derangoish. The CD itself is not superheavy like some russian trance or like it, but instead it is a lot more heavy when it comes to the amount of psychedelic elements who's constantly taking care of all parts of the body and mind. I take the risk here and I might sound excentric, but I have to say that Jens and Ola have really succceded with this one and the album is definitely a hot candidate when it is time to think of the best nightmusic album of 2005.
Our danish neighbors, Parvati Records, brings the third part in their popular Psychedelically Yours-series. The disc is spiced up with nine tracks who's singing between 145 to 148 BPM, and offers as usual an impressive tracklist, at least by judging from the cover. We get the plesure of surfing sonic vibrations again delivered by wellknown Parvatisupporters, but we also get the opportunity to shake our head to Ohmgnome, a constellation between Jaffa from Grapes of Wrath and Terkelsen from Meteloids, as well as a french battle between Phonic Request and Akhoa.
After I've calm down the ocean of feelings within me, I come to the conclusion that the third piece in the Psychedelically Yours-series comes like a drink with different tastes. The disc's opening with familiar tones whom we all recognize and associate with Parvati, and then it delivers two negative surprises who doesn't feel like something I associate with Parvati Records at all. The mix up is then followed by a flipped out track from Ohmgnome, followed by three tracks who runs me over, all of them, three times in a row. After that, it's left some space for some playful Örebrojoy and then the rope is cut by a total disappointment, a sleepwalker who did both wake up on the wrong side of the bed, as well as it dazed tried to charm the listener. This release does not keep the flag high enough for Parvati, and I'm putting the disc back in it's cover and put the CD back in the collection with a disappointment in my heart. I do think that those who are not that into Parvati and it's previous releases will like this release, but for a fanatic lunatic like me, this is just simply not enough. Three-four good tracks on a CD who's armed with nine deliveries is just not enough. | ||||
At any rate, this CD features nine groovy tracks and one which leans more towards beatless ambient, and I would like to emphasise that all of the tracks are to some extent very uplifting and positive. Thus the CD is a good companion to relax with this summer. Thumbs up and hats off.
