I recently discovered this great label from Spain, and Im glad I did. Nearly every release is quality techno. No games, just good music made for the dance floor. Their catalog is loaded full of goodies, and the fact that it is all free makes it all that much better. I highly recommend checking this one out if you are in the mood for some straight up, no-nonsense techno.
It can be hard finding the rougher tracks in a sea full of easy going minimal dubby glitch type stuff. There are a lot netlabels out there that focus on more experimental music, and finding releases that get your head bobbing are few and far between, but this one delivers.

"Chiptune" is a weird genre, and yet it describes the music falling within the category about a correctly as you can get. I can remember many, many, maybe too many days in my youth spent behind the television playing the NES. I had always marveled at the awesome sounds that the little box was able to create, and it was MegaMan 2 that I think truly got me into "electronic" music. The soundtrack to that game was awe inspiring in so many ways its unbelievable. A search on youtube will yield results of all sorts of bands and musicians trying to recreate the intricate tracks from that video game.
Tangent.
This release from the good folks at 8bitpeoples is one of the best if not the best set of audio tracks created using the 2A03 microchip found in the NES. Listening to this release in full almost brought a tear to my eye (almost). The chiptune producers are definitely serving a niche market in that this type of stuff probably wont appeal to everyone. Anyone following this artistic movement however should give RushJet1 a listen as this person is at the top of the game. It is with much thanks to artists like this that I can once again relive my childhood and bring back some memories from times past when life was just about having fun.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Clicky-Poppy Bleep Bleep Minimal Tech is not really my preferred style of dance music. In fact, my 18 month old son and I were listening to this one and he started making "popping" noises with his mouth; it was quite funny really. Non-the-less this EP has a certain appeal to me, besides the naming scheme of the tracks (who doesnt like hot female tennis players?). In fact, as far as tech house goes, this one stands out a little bit from the rest. The percussion samples are well placed behind the upbeat drum tracks, and the synth work is minimal, but still complex enough to hold ones interest. Another positive aspect of this release is the four tracks tie into an overall theme, but they dont suffer from the "everything that I write sounds the same" syndrome. At least not as much as most other music in this genre. "Martina" in particular I found to be rather interesting; the doorbell sample halfway through actually made me do a quick rewind before I got up and answered to door to nobody.
As of this writing, this release is still available at the internet archive. Its just a shame that this label is no longer around. This is a solid effort and worth checking out if you have some free time and are looking for something new to listen to.

Jesus Christ! After nearly a year hiatus, Thinner is back with what appears to be the strongest release in their catalogue. This track is so friggin infectious its not even funny. Thinner, while not my favorite label, has been known to release some damn good tracks, and this one is no exception. Sweet melody, odd but endearing vocals, techy minimal house beats, all kinds of fun samples. This isnt usually the type of music that I go for, but it is just too good to pass on. The Byallo mix isnt bad either. Definitely more "housey" than the original with an odd filter on the odd vocals, but still good in its own right. The fact these guys are just giving this away simply blows my mind. I feel sorry for people that still pay for music.

Yes yes, here it is. That infectious quote from Fear And Loathing mixed into a bangin hard trance gem that has stood the test of time (so far, at least for me anyway). The first time I heard this one I was immediately impressed, if I remember correctly, and I am still just as pleased when I hear it today. As a recent addition to my collection, I am only saddened by the fact that it took me song long to find it. Anyone who can see the smile on my face when this one is spinning cant argue about how much I like this song, and Im sure youll agree when you hear it also. Five stars for sure. Their Eyes is an alright track, but it pales in comparison.
