Black Cross (nee' Black Widows - of the phenomenal 10" "Stops a Beating Heart") are one of the very few strictly "hardcore" bands whose music really moves me. It helps a TON having seen them play a small venue in Philly, where they insisted on not playing on stage but rather set up on the floor, and where the vocalist made a point to tell the female audience members that despite the aggressive nature of their music, they did not intend on alienating anyone, and the band was glad they were there.

This record is quite a wonderful listen, mostly for the re-appearance of what is in my mind their signature song - also the title track here. A fine fine lyric: "doomed to feel with such intensity / we must create, we must create..."
