108 Grand - Te Quiero - 03-Dec-07 09:31 PM
Darren Emersons Underworld Mix is as bomb as it gets. Quintessential golden-age off-your-tits rave trance. One of those very few tracks which manages to be slow, funky, and full-on, simultaneously.

When I got the record it was as if a secret weapon was bestowed and it came with instructions: if you only get to drop this once in your career, save it for the really really big rig. Its true, this one has balls the size of meteors and deserves a large audience and larger sound system. The bassline is, as the previous review said "to die for."

Warning, this track is deceptively slow. You really have to plan your set for it. Tracks like this taught me the power of restraint.

The Strut Mix on the flip is a gem but pedestrian in comparison to the Underworld mix. But then, few tracks can stand up against this one.

Hysterix - Must Be The Music - 21-Apr-07 05:31 AM
The track "Talk To Me (Sashas Full Music Master)" found on this release has the same title as found on other Must Be The Music singles and compilations, but is a totally different mix. If you are looking for the progressive house BOMB with the same name, this is not it. This version sounds very dated.

Transglobal Underground - Earth Tribe / Slowfinger - 02-Sep-05 08:40 AM
Kris Needs is responsible for some of the most wicked trancey tracks from the early 90s. His works are sophisticated and honest, with incredible imagination, flow, and arrangement. No-nonsense, full-on, head-down, hands-high business. Delta Lady "Anything You Want" is a perfect example of this, but "Slowfinger" really stands out as my favorite. The use of voices in the intro and breakdown are sublime and the distorted 909 breakbeat that comes at the breakdown in earth-wrecking. The one problem with this record is that the bassline, though over-the-top ferocious, is EQd too heavy on the bass. You have bring it down on the mixer when you play it.

Supertronic Co. - Volume II - 01-Feb-05 02:01 AM
The ultimate opening record for the morning set (especially if its on the beach). A gorgeous intro, full of birdsong and throat singers. Sounds a bit like portions of KLF "Chill Out". Perfect build up of percussion... then second bass drum hits with a nasty breakbeat and its all over... arms in the air business. Wonderful arrangement; layers of twinkling keys and compd chords fade in and out like waves. Better have another serious record to follow and be ready to mix out; this slice of heaven ends too soon!

Synaesthesiacs - Synaesthesia - 21-Jan-05 01:07 AM
One of Simons better remixes from the classic Goa-trance era. Once you get past the intensity of it and into the groove its a brilliant deep, dubby, and hypnotic piece of powerful journey music.
