Reviews:
Trentemøller - Physical Fraction - 24-Jul-05 10:19 PM
This is an excellent crossover record that bridges the gaps between house, electro and progressive quite nicely. Great sound design and outstanding production value, as always from Trentemller.
Mathew Jonson And Mole, The / Axel Bartsch - Speicher 26 - 24-Jul-05 10:19 PM
Mathew Jonson and The Molenot surprisinglygo deep and ridiculously trippy on the A side here. Eerie pads, chanting monks, and a punchy echoing bass riff drift in and out over minimal percussion, and after the breakdown the kick burns into this distorted fuzzy thing thats liable to drive people absolutely insane. I know it sounds cheesy, but trust me: its amazing.
Arto Mwambé & The Barons Of Burma* - Girl You Know It's Arto Mwambé - 24-Jul-05 10:18 PM
This is one dirty, funky, chunky little record right here. Solid percussion, wobbly retro basslines, nasty distorted acid squirts, and tastefully minimal vox on "Cryptonite." A must-have summer record for house, electro and techno fans alike.
Portishead - 15-Jan-05 03:19 PM
I must say the only reason Portishead could ever sound "dated" is that theyve been painstakingly imitated for the past decade, to various degrees of success. Beth Gibbons voice epitomizes yearning and heartache. And while I cant say that Andy Smiths turntablism is astounding, or that Geoff Barrows productions are groundbreaking by todays standards, taken as a whole the groups work is unique, and was absolutely unrivaled in its day.
Justin Maxwell - Garrulous - 22-Sep-04 01:21 AM
This is certainly the nastiest thing on Palette, on par with the Tejada & Levistes latest. Its deep, funky, totally electronic and quirky as all hell. "Garrulous" is a tough percussive tool with huge bass and wacky synth squeals. "Lousy Party" is a brooding, evil, almost industrial number. "Bebop Cola" is more on the minimal electro tip. Three distinct sounds tweaked for ultimate dancefloor destruction!
