Various - FAX Compilation - 23-Oct-08 12:35 PM
If you like the idea of owning the first ambient cookbook cd but dont fancy paying the crazy prices being asked regularly here and on ebay then you could always buy this compilation and the second one also on instinct label and hey presto you have the ambient cookbook in all but name and for a fraction of the price. Cant fault either this or the second comp which are simply superb.I got the second cookbook on mp3 cd which is also way cheaper than the originals.Get these two compilations now !
Richie Hawtin - DE9 | Closer To The Edit - 19-Dec-07 12:04 PM
I bought this on the strength of reviews etc and the fact that i liked his from within series with pete namlook.I just dont get this, maybe it is because i am not a dj that i cant appreciate how difficult this was to produce but the cd never stays on for more than about 20 minutes before i give up and go for something a bit more tuneful like black dog or autechre. i may give this a go again in another six months or so and see.

Bought this after reading reviews in various magazine and websites thinking it was the sort of thing i would like as i am into electronica and idm and all sorts of wierd things. I listened the first time and did not get it so i left it a week or so and tried again and same result. This carried on for several more weeks several more weeks until finally i have to admit the only thing i like about it is the cover...Sorry.
Future Sound Of London, The - Lifeforms - 01-Nov-07 02:06 PM
This is the ambient album which pretty much got me into the whole ambient thing really back in 1993 and i can honestly say that there is rarely a month goes by when i dont listen to it inspite of having hundreds of other albums to choose from. I never get bored of it and always find myself hearing something which i hadn't noticed before.I dont think they ever really got close to this although i like pretty much all of their stuff. Still sounds way out there even now.

Take no notice of the reviewer from november 2004 and and take it from me that if you like shpongle or orbital or any instrumental music with a bit of life in it as well as some substance then this is the stuff for you. I bought it back in 1994 and still listen to it now and constantly see tracks from it on compilation cd's. I also like a lot of plaid autechre black dog and boards of canada and this album is right up there with those on my playlists.
