Future Sound Of London, The - Lifeforms - 12-Jan-09 12:52 PM
Bought this one when it first came out cos i liked the picture on the cover and inside. Not perhaps the best criteria for choosing music but it seems to work for me every now and then and in the case of this album it was the best gamble i have ever made. Plenty of long winded reviews have been written about this album but all i can say is that the two discs are to me just two very different but fantastic musical journeys that need to be enjoyed with a like minded soul on with the stereo on loud or just on your own with youre headphones on and good wine or any combination of the above. Never do i get bored of the music or switch it of early or answer the phone. You get the picture !

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 - 12-Jan-09 12:41 PM
I bought this back in 1993 when it first came out along with a bit of future sound of london and for many years it was my only real music of this sought and i listened to it most months. I still listen to it most months now or tracks from it as i have them all organised in playlists of this type of music. Still not board of it after all those years and many hundreds more albums bought. Heliospan and Tha are my favorites for the record but there is nothing here that i dont enjoy listening to...Unlike some of his other stuff which is to much noise and not enough melody. I have waffled on for long enough....Go buy it or download if thats youre thing.

Various - FAX Compilation - 23-Oct-08 12:35 PM
If you like the idea of owning the first ambient cookbook cd but dont fancy paying the crazy prices being asked regularly here and on ebay then you could always buy this compilation and the second one also on instinct label and hey presto you have the ambient cookbook in all but name and for a fraction of the price.
Cant fault either this or the second comp which are simply superb.I got the second cookbook on mp3 cd which is also way cheaper than the originals.Get these two compilations now !

Richie Hawtin - DE9 | Closer To The Edit - 19-Dec-07 12:04 PM
I bought this on the strength of reviews etc and the fact that i liked his from within series with pete namlook.I just dont get this, maybe it is because i am not a dj that i cant appreciate how difficult this was to produce but the cd never stays on for more than about 20 minutes before i give up and go for something a bit more tuneful like black dog or autechre. i may give this a go again in another six months or so and see.

Bought this after reading reviews in various magazine and websites thinking it was the sort of thing i would like as i am into electronica and idm and all sorts of wierd things. I listened the first time and did not get it so i left it a week or so and tried again and same result. This carried on for several more weeks several more weeks until finally i have to admit the only thing i like about it is the cover...Sorry.
