Ben Sims / Phil Vernol / Rob Jarvis - Killa Bite 2 Dec 03, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
Essential techno. A1 features on Hawtins excellent Decks, EFX & 909, but it's not the only classic track on there. B2 also stands out for me, using the old "work that mother fucker" sample and typical Sims beats.

The only shame is that these guys don't work together anymore as the first two e.p's are pure quality. The third one was produced by Rob Jarvis alone, prompting Ben Sims to put a full page notice in the UK's Overload magazine saying that he had nothing to do with the production of it. I assume he was pissed off.

A UK techno classic. Not a bad track on there, all made very much for the dj and very much for the dance floor. Sims pulls 8 storming tunes out of his magic hat on this one. No techno fan should be without a copy. Essential.

The surgeon remix is as tough as they come. An incredibly powerfull baseline with slightly out of time hihats, it's one of the most intense techno tunes i've ever heared and one of surgeons best.

The other mixes you can take or leave but anyone who likes there techno with a tough edge should own this record.

It's a fuckin pounder.

A good release on the excellent skunkworks label with two outstanding tracks from the little known Kreislauf. The first, B1 is a simple percussive track with a killer rolling drum loop underpinned with a driving kick and bassline.

The second B3 has much more to it. Starting with a simple loop it builds in it's layers step by step, adding jackin samples and filling with fast percussion to keep the energy levels high.

IMO these two tracks are techno of the very highest order.
