DJ Slip - Slipotika Jul 02, 2009
An excellent and diverse offering from Mr. Geary on Missile, Slipotika contains straight-up big-system primetime techno tracks, electro-ish breakbeat techno tracks, and even some dark analog trip-hop.

Remixes of the A-side, "Broken Cake" by Neil Landstrumm and Christian Vogel, were also published as Missile 32. "Spice" was originally released on the "Soqui Ponpe" release on fellow Minnesotan Freddy Fresh's Butter Beat label.

As always with Missile presses, by spreading across three pieces of wax what many labels would cram onto 2 or even 1, this 3x12 is well-mastered enough to stay true to Slip's obsessive production subtleties.
Murs - The End Of The Beginning... Sampler CD Feb 20, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
This is a lovely little short-attention-span snack for those who enjoy "The End of the Beginning". It contains short remixes of several tracks, some with alternate lyrics, as well as skits and interludes, including an appearance by Murs' mom ("That's the wine talkin."). Covering a lot of gound in about 15 minutes, this sampler is packed with good old fashioned hiphop goodness. Z-Trip and Murs put it all together.
John Cage Oct 25, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
It is worth noting that Cage's famously note-less 4'33" was not meant to deliver actual silence to the audience, but instead to draw attention to the additional sounds that invariably surround anyone listening to any music at any time. In a performance hall, this would include traffic outside, the building's ventilaiton system, coughing and stirring of audience members, etc.

As Cage himself commented, “There is no such thing as silence. Something is always happening that makes a sound.” To the extent that we use Brian Eno's original definition of "ambient" music as low-volume audio to enhance someone's perception of their surroundings, 4'33" could be seen as an ultimately 'ambient' composition.
