Guano Apes - 02-Mar-07 03:48 AM
For me it's still a mistery why this rock band didn't make the breakthrough to the international scene. Apart from Germany, and some periferical success in countries like my own, Portugal (where many gigs took place, and this band was respected in the same level as bands like Bush, Stone Temple Pilots, Incubus, or even Placebo), Guano Apes never made it to crutial markets like UK or the US. Unfortunatelly they have already ceased their career, but their work will remain, and prove them to be one of the most refreshing alternative rock bands ever.
Frozen Plasma - Irony - 19-Dec-06 12:10 PM
What a lovely record... Tom Wax & Boris Alexander Remix is the one to look for, and provides a perfect crossover between 80's vocals, in a Human League style, and modern sinth-pop. Pure class, very electroclash, unfortunately comes in a very limited edition.
Depeche Mode - I Feel You - 06-Oct-06 12:58 PM
Babylon Mix is a late example of the techno/rave "who is elvis" formula in 1993. This mix was complemented with a successful reconstruction of Dave Gahan's vocals, that resulted in a superb track especially for the likes of rave and oldskool lovers, not so much for traditional Depeche Mode fans.
Urban Hype - Living In A Fantasy - 01-Jul-06 05:45 AM
Another great b-side example is Teknologi (Ambient House mix). It took me ages to trace this one. Something like "you stole my heart x3... all so true". This remix of Teknologi includes a piano and a flute, and the result is a superb track that could well be included in the Trance concept of the early Rumour Records collections back in 1993.
Atahualpa - Toca Las Congas - 30-Jun-06 09:22 AM
This record is worth for the b-side Eldorado (asylum version). "Adonde esta... EspaƱa..." This is a brilliant track that follows the Who is Elvis formula, for the likes of oldskool lovers. Quite underrated back in the day, never made it to any compilation cd, but it's complete genious. Like the quote from Seinfeld series, "It's gold, Jerry, gold!"
