Various - Nine O'Clock Drop - 04-Jun-03 03:58 AM
Listen to 23Skidoo - Coup and then listen to Block Rocking Beats by the Chemical Brothers. Quite obviously the same track! That alone is an indication of the influential nature of this old music. There are some very diverse genres on this complation. Some are quite experimental for their day but sound suprisingly timeless.
Various - Flux Trax - 03-Jun-03 11:11 AM
Interestingly, both cds also contain a computer program that when run will play on-screen animations in time to the music. This however was designed for MSDOS and will be noticed by many people now on modern operating systems.
This compelation and Flux Trax 2 taught me a lot about Acid House and Techno in its early years. Also it should be noted that the tracks on this are unmixed.
Spiritual North - Superman - 02-May-03 11:06 AM
This quite rare. Its also very weird, but good! One side of the record is a black rubber surface with a logo and the song title and artist etched into the vinyl beneath. Very cool. The track itself is a mixture of dark trance interspersed with some unusual vocals. Its has a break about 3/4 through the track at which stage it suddenly gets much harder... then it tapers out to a locked groove... so this record never actually ends!
Sasha & John Digweed - Renaissance: The Mix Collection - 02-May-03 10:35 AM
This is more than just a mix compelation, its clubland history and a something to be treasured. Also a landmark as it protrays the rebirth of electronic music after the early "rave" scene had grown stale. This is uplifting epic house at its finest. And not a duff track in three CDs makes it a masterpiece.
